Hello, has anyone had issues trying to get their breast fed baby to take a bottle? I went back to work and my 10wk old has been refusing the bottle for my partner. Any suggestions?

Hi! I suggest getting one of a few different types of bottles. The nipple shape on the bottle that is closest to your nipple shape will work best! Also try premie flow nipples at first to transition since breast flow is slower than most standard bottles

We had good luck with dr browns and preemie flow at first then change to transition then size 1

Hey! Yes I had to slowly introduce the bottle to my baby (started at 6 weeks)- I started with one bottle a day. It’s takes them a little while to learn how to drink from the bottle- the way they drink from your breast is completely different from how they suck from the bottle, so essentially, they are learning a new skill. At first, I tried the dr. Browns and the Phillips Avent bottles - she would not take to them. So I tried the Pigeon brand (recommended by lactation consultant for being the closest in similarity to the actual breast). I used premie nipple ( SS). Whatever brand bottle you choose, always use the slowest flow nipple (premie nipple). Babies have to work for the breast so you want to maintain that with the bottle.

We got the babylist bottle variety pack to find what bottle she liked

We had to use a bottle from birth since my baby was early and didn’t have the strength to nurse at first. We use evenflo wide balance + cause the bottle nipple is very close to a breast nipple. My baby will take both the bottle and the breast

Currently experiencing this. I’m trying to let him play with the bottle in his mouth about an hour after he eats with about 0.5 to 1oz of milk in it. He will latch every once in a while. The only bottle he shows interest in is the phillips avent.
