17 month old not walking

My son has just turned 17 months and still isn’t walking, he can crawl, pull himself up on things & cruise along furniture. He’s also able to take a few steps if we play a game of back & fourth but gives up quite quickly.

I think he may be double jointed, I’ve spent far too long on Google & im really concerned / starting to not sleep because of it.

Has anyone had any positive outcomes?
I feel like I’m not doing enough etc 😩

I would see the GP just to be sure everything is okay. Some babies don't walk until 18 months but after that there is concern.

I know two toddlers who recently have only learnt to walk at 20-24 months. No-one was too concerned, sometimes they just find crawling and bum shuffling faster so aren't bothered!

My friends daughter didn’t walk until almost 24 months. GP ruled out anything underlying, referred to physio. Eventually she just did it and it was due to lack of confidence, nothing physical. So best to speak to a GP and see what’s next.
Also my daughter only walked at 17 months. Good luck 👍

You can mention it to your HV but he's got a method of getting around and can bare weight on his legs so I imagine he'll get there one day!

My niece didn’t walk until she was 22 months! She’s now 11 years old and is the most sporty person ever. Maybe just check in with the HV to make sure. Even though it was years ago the HV told my sister that they weren’t too concerned and my niece could weight bare and she could get around how she wanted to

I’d speak to the GP (rather than HV as it can be taken more seriously and be sorted quicker) as support may be needed - whether that’s physio or referrals for tests. Always best to check rather than leaving it

How to settle night wakings without feeding

My EBF baby responds very well to feeds overnight to fall straight back asleep after waking. I’m conscious this isn’t a long term solution and we need a way of settling him without feeding.

He won’t take a dummy, patting/ hand on chest/shushing etc in crib doesn’t settle him. If I get him out of his crib he’s still distressed and I have to walk around with him for a long time and often still end up needing to feed him to get him back to sleep.

It’s especially hard at night as i also need my sleep and it’s far easier and quicker to quick feed and back to sleep.

Any advice on how I can settle overnight without the feeds?

Sleeping on your back

Hi guys, I've been told so many different things about ways of sleeping. I try to sleep on my left but I always find I sleep on my back. Is this ok?

When does catnapping stop?

My LO is 4 months old and for the last one month has been napping only for 30 minutes chunks during the day unless contact napping. When can I expect and hope for this to get better?

Grunting, straining, red faced… HELP

my little one is just over 3 weeks and honestly I think he spends every night from 3am onwards grunting, straining, stretching his legs out and passing wind until about 6am. The only way he will sleep is if he is on my tummy down as this seems to give him comfort but it’s hard for me to not fall asleep when this happens! We have taken him to the doctors and they said he’s just a baby basically🤷‍♀️ he poos fine, passes wind throughout the night all night, burps after every feed I just cannot work out why he does it! Please can I have some advice or at least someone who is in the same boat 😭😭

Car seat issues

Help!! My daughter screams badly EVERY time I put her in the car seat. It causes me so much aniexty to take her out, I feel so trapped at the moment as don’t want to take her out because of it. It’s like a bad scream to the point where she’s sweating due to getting so worked up. This panics me so I always pull over to calm her down and put her back in. Has anyone had anything similar and can offer some advice? Thanks so much x x
