How do I go out with my 11 week old?

Everyday I try to go out and there’s always something that stops me. For instance he didn’t sleep well at night or early morning today. He was awake for a couple of hours, so overtired. My mum came to go out but then he finally went to sleep, so we waited for that. He woke up after 30 mins. Then I fed him and he was a bit fussy. He has reflux so needed to burp and hold for 20 mins. Then I went to change his nappy and get him changed into going out clothes. He then brought up all his milk and was crying his eyes out. I couldn’t settle him, by this time it had already been over 2 hours and my mum had to leave. I could only settle him by feeding and now he’s fallen asleep again.

His wake windows are fairly short after I’ve fed for around 30-40mins. I need to burp in between.

Do I just take a crying baby out? He hates the car seat and the pram.
Do you miss naps? I thought an overtired baby doesn’t sleep well at night and that’s already bad.

What do you do? Any advice or tips?

If you're feeling up to it, id go out, he will get used to it and adjust slowly. It will probably be stressful for u and not enjoyable but thats how it is in the first few months. Things get easier in time but I understand it can be difficult.

Does he settle and have easier days or is he like this all the time?

Also I have to apologise if my feedback seems negative. Ive had a really difficult time but it does get easier, they are just so small and this world is all new to them.

I hope u enjoy a nice day out together soon xx

We found it best to go out when he’s sleep, so change feed, pop into car/carrier/pram and then he’d fall asleep for the most time we was out

i just go out, mine isn't the best of sleepers anyways so we go with the flow. your baby might surprise you.

I find it easier to get out if I’ve got everything prepared.
So have a bag packed (as much as you can ahead of time)
Babies outfit out and ready and your outfit out and ready.
Pick where you’re gonna go, somewhere that you’re motivated to go to like fave coffee shop.

I find having everything ready and decided made it easier for me to transition between the comfort and safety of home to the outside world.

Using a carrier helped me get out a lot too.
My baby didn’t like the bassinet part of our pram and it took a few attempts to get her happy in the chair part but the carrier was the true saviour. Xx

I’d get him out too, parenting is easier outside! Having said that, I remember the anxiety of trying to get out the door… ‘oh look a poo explosion!’ Get everything ready the night before so all you have to get ready is yourself and the baby xx

This sounds like my life, reflux and not being able to lie him down without throwing up. He hates the car seat until I start walking him or driving, initially he cried but he eventually falls asleep with his dummy. have you given it abit of time ? It sounds awful but mine has worked himself that up before he’s cried himself to sleep from being overtired. X

I've had 3 babies. My youngest is 11 months.
Don't over think it. Just go out x

At 11 weeks old he's not getting over tired y as he's too young to fit into a routine

Bedtime nappies

Our little boy has started sleeping through the night but as a result his nappy is rather full on the morning and leaking. We currently use pampers and they have been perfect up until now anyone got any recommendations of nappies to try!

Hello everyone

Hey guys, I really don't want to be judged but could anyone help until the 2nd of September until I'm back at work? I feel horrible but I'm really struggling. I fully understand if not possible, it's noones problem but mine. Thank you ❤️

Not doing enough?!

Does anyone else feel like they are not doing enough with their baby? Mine is 5 weeks old today and as an example I’ve just got him in his cot with no visual stimulation as I’m trying to get him to nap but it’s been like 30 mins and he’s still awake and I’m thinking - is he bored?! But I just want a lil nap for him so I can get a couple bits done! I find the days go by in such a blur and by the end I feel guilty that I didn’t give him enough “play time” with like black and white sensory things or visual stimulation. I’m worried I’m setting him up for failure at only 5 weeks old looool. Please tell me I’m not the only one!

Baby slept all night 🌙🥳

Baby is 11 weeks tomorrow, and he slept through the whole night for the first time last night (in his own bed!) 💙

His dad and I were cheering and celebrating this morning!

Let's hope this is just the beginning of sleeping like this and not just a one-off 🤞

Eye tracking and looking at hands

Hiya, my little one is 4 weeks old and isn’t yet tracking with his eyes or looking at his hands. He has just started to look at our faces but only for a few seconds then just looks around the room or past us. Anyone else’s buba like this?

Would you correct someone else’s pronunciation for your child? How do you feel about regional/international accents?

I bumped into a mother I know at a coffee shop. I have an unusual accent, because I’m ESL and I immigrated to the UK when I was 14 so I picked up a lot of london pronunciations but I don’t generally have trouble being understood.

Her son doesn’t have any speech issues or anything, he’s got a great vocabulary for 4. He is very friendly so he talks to me when we see them at the park or soft play, and he always seems to understand me.

I was speaking to my child in English and then suddenly I realised the other mother was correcting words I said for her son? I asked my daughter “do you want some water?” which I guess is like dyu wan some wata if I just say it quickly without thinking, and she said quite loudly “we would say WA-TER, do you WANT some WATER” and made him repeat it back twice.

Other words I heard her correct were cloth and cheeky girl, then I started to get self conscious and making an effort to enunciate better. I was so embarrassed, she was speaking quite loudly so she must have known I could hear her. But I like my accent, it still sounds a bit like where I come from. I don’t mind if my daughter hears it and learns it, my heritage is her heritage. We only see this woman occasionally (she’s a bit condescending so I try to avoid play dates) so I doubt my accent is rubbing off on her son.

It’s been a couple days and this is still sitting with me. It feels so out of line to do that in front of the person unprompted. As long as people understand each other, does it matter?
