I’m 4 weeks postpartum currently breastfeeding and struggling with dark thoughts mentally. I have a really good support system and seen the GP about it but he just gave me Sertraline. I’m not wanting to take the medication due to side effects making you feel suicidal. I already have moments where I feel better off not here. I have a 9 year old girl, 2 year old boy and a 4 week old boy too. Struggling with the 6 weeks and constant demand. I’ve had my sister over to support with the kids while hubby works. I do constantly have someone with me. I’ve cried every day for the last 5 days and feel completely hopeless at times. Is anyone going through anything similar? Or experienced this and decided not to take medication? If so how long did it take to recover? Xx

I don't know about your nhs trust but where I am has a fantastic therapy section. I have post partum anxiety. Filled out the form and had an appointment within a week, my therapist is lovely and has given me some tools to help me not spiral.
I found talking about it helped

Bless you! Sending huge hugs your way. I had times throughout my postpartum period where I felt really anxious and very down. I would try talking therapies, they really helped me. You can fill out a form online and because you’re freshly postpartum whey bump you to the top of the list so you should be seen pretty soon. You got this 🩷🤍

Maybe see if there's something you can have to support you while you adjust to Sertraline because once it kicks in you'll likely start feeling a lot better. Sending loads of love. You are wanted and loved, always remember that! Hope things get easier.

Thank you for sharing, it can take a lot to admit how you’re feeling to yourself but even more so to others.
I am still suffering with PPD 14 months after the birth of my first child but still remember the newborn trenches like it was yesterday.
I was also breastfeeding and the letdown was truly awful, I would get a wave of negative emotions as soon he latched on that really emphasised everything I was already feeling, I didn’t realise this was apparently a very normal occurrence for breastfeeding mums
I was prescribed sertraline, and have been again recently, but I never took it in the early days due to me viewing it as a failure that I needed medication in the first place (not the case at all)
I have no idea if not taking this medication back then would have stopped me from suffering today but I’m going to give it a try because it’s okay to need a bit of extra help.
Your babies are so lucky to have you and you have survived 100% of your worst days
You’re not alone 💙

I am currently experiencing PDD/PPA and finally starting to feel better. I was super reluctant to take the medication as I have never needed it in the past and was worried it would cause gastro issues and flare another condition I have. Eventually the feelings became so intense that I decided it take it. The side effects were horrible but as soon as I hit week 3 of taking it I immediately started to improve. I am currently under the perinatal mental health team and being supported to rebuild after that experience. You can self referr to talking therapies but if you feel like it's beyond that you can speak to your HV about a referral to the perinatal mental health team. I'm so glad I spoke out and I was open with all my support network. It was only from being so open that I heard from numerous women how they struggled through it or were also on medication too.
I know how the saying goes, but I am absolutely sobbing.
The jar had around 34 to 36 ounces..
my daughter is going to stay with her father tonight so I worked so hard yesterday to make sure I filled it up and then some, so that she would have what she needed.
We didn’t get good sleep last night. Half asleep this morning I go to fill up a bottle and this happens…
We have some frozen stock but this broke my heart.

Hey guys, I really don't want to be judged but could anyone help until the 2nd of September until I'm back at work? I feel horrible but I'm really struggling. I fully understand if not possible, it's noones problem but mine. Thank you ❤️

So a few weeks ago I went to see my cousins baby she's now 5 months old I held her once and interacted with her ect then gave her back to her dad they offered me to hold her again
It just came out and I said I'm okay I'm not really a baby person
I know some people love to hold baby's and cuddle but that not really me.
I wish I had t said it now I feel like a knob I just ment that's I was okay not to hold her again and that I would be more interactive once she's a lil older eg sitting up and crawling ect I find smaller babies quiet fragile I was even like this with my own , I didn't mean it wrong , how can I apologize or am I over thinking it
I didn't mean to offend them at all.

I bumped into a mother I know at a coffee shop. I have an unusual accent, because I’m ESL and I immigrated to the UK when I was 14 so I picked up a lot of london pronunciations but I don’t generally have trouble being understood.
Her son doesn’t have any speech issues or anything, he’s got a great vocabulary for 4. He is very friendly so he talks to me when we see them at the park or soft play, and he always seems to understand me.
I was speaking to my child in English and then suddenly I realised the other mother was correcting words I said for her son? I asked my daughter “do you want some water?” which I guess is like dyu wan some wata if I just say it quickly without thinking, and she said quite loudly “we would say WA-TER, do you WANT some WATER” and made him repeat it back twice.
Other words I heard her correct were cloth and cheeky girl, then I started to get self conscious and making an effort to enunciate better. I was so embarrassed, she was speaking quite loudly so she must have known I could hear her. But I like my accent, it still sounds a bit like where I come from. I don’t mind if my daughter hears it and learns it, my heritage is her heritage. We only see this woman occasionally (she’s a bit condescending so I try to avoid play dates) so I doubt my accent is rubbing off on her son.
It’s been a couple days and this is still sitting with me. It feels so out of line to do that in front of the person unprompted. As long as people understand each other, does it matter?

He’s 4.5 and he’s just so silly all the time like he makes stupid faces when I’m talking to him and he’s just so loud and obnoxious majority of the time. Sometimes it was funny but now it’s just annoying and then he instigates his younger brother’s behaviour. Is anyone else going through this? Is it normal? What are ways to cope because I just keep rolling my eyes lol.
