How to cope, Emergency C section

months of prepping for a water birth and i ended up having to be induced then and emergency c section since baby boy decided he didn't want to come anymorešŸ˜‚ im only 16 days pp but since coming home i've been constantly up and moving about. i don't think i've processed how traumatic the birth was yet since my family and partner haven't really sympathised with what i went through at all

any tips or advice for coping ? should i even bother with talking therapies?

I’m sorry they aren’t sympathetic what you went through is very traumatic.. same thing happened to me. I would recommend talking to someone, I didn’t and tbh I still struggle now (22months pp) with the ptsd of a traumatic birth which then lead to postpartum depression
So definitely get some help especially if your family aren’t x

Talk to people, don’t keep anything in. I think talking therapies sounds great especially if no one’s too concerned around you.

I had the same situation as you for my first child and I definitely got a little ptsd from it and it took me a long time to admit it!

You got this, take every day as it comes and just know there are people around you that can help ā™„ļø

I’m sorry you didn’t get the birth you planned for but I’m also glad you and your baby are alive and healthy.
A c-section when not anticipating it can be a shock to the system - especially emotionally.

I would ask for a birth debrief through PALS at your hospital as it may help to understand what happened and what led to certain decisions being made.

I would definitely consider talking therapies as talking it out can help process what happened and your current feelings.

I’d also recommend joining some community groups- I’ll link some you can follow on Instagram and happy for you to DM me for their WhatsApp groups as the ladies are all incredibly supportive and have some lived experience of their own that could also be helpful for you in your recovery and motherhood journey.

Horrendous heartburn and sickness

Just sat up in bed right now after a heartburn disaster, I’m 36+5 and been having it for a week or two now, always have a small sip of gaviscon before bed but tonight it didn’t work. Woke up didn’t feel good, (luckily I keep a bowl by my bed due to hyperemesis)
Still tried to get to the toilet in time but I didn’t make it and it’s the first time heartburn has actually made me physically sick and it was so much worse then any of my HG sickness as it felt like pure fire.
Partner came and rescued me with my rennies and a cold glass of water and getting me off the bathroom floor of course

But now I’m scared to lay down in bed incase it happens again

Failed sweep now cramping

I had an attempt at a sweep yesterday afternoon but my cervix was fully closed so midwife couldn’t perform it.

Since then I’ve been very crampy. Does cramping mean the cervix is softening?

Has anyone has a failed sweep that lead to cramping that turned into spontaneous labour?

Stay at home Mum and ill

What are we doing as stay at home mums when we’re extremely ill. I can hardly get off the toilet, I’m throwing up a lot, I hardly feel like I can do anything and be a mum I’m exhausted can’t eat any slight movement is a sickness wave and I feel so bad. My toddler is 17 month old so it’s not like he just sits there he’s constantly on the move and wanting me. Any suggestions on what I could be doing I’m honestly feeling so guilty
