C section or natural birth?

Unsure what I should choose… I have weighed up all the pros and cons and still don’t know what is best for me. I’ve heard positive and negative birth stories for both but I’m so scared and not sure what I should choose.

Whichever choose you make know it’s your choose and it’s the right one. I had one vaginal with epidural and one vaginal with nothing. I recommend vaginal because the recover is easier for “most” women.

I’d choose vaginal if you can. The recovery is quicker and you don’t have to deal with the aftermaths of a massive abdominal surgery. I was also in two minds and would have chosen the c section if I didn’t think it was best for the baby. I run the risk of still going into c section because of how slow things were going. Looking back, it was worth the risk. I was out and about at one week postpartum

I had natural birth. It is tough mentally. And also there is a chance to go emergency c section.
With elected c section you know what to expect. Its an in and out process. However i preferred natural birth as i trusted in my body and because the staff looked at me very well it was a good experience after all, despite i had 40 hrs of labour and 3 hrs of delivery and a serious hemorrhage

Both have pros but ill say vaginally is better if you have the choice c section is major surgery not minor the amount they have to cut through it will be a painful recovery and much much longer

The issue here is your fear. What’re you scared about? Have you spoken to a professional about that?

I am choosing to do an elective c-section. This is my first child and I will be 42 by his due date. For women my age there is a 37% chance if I try to have vaginal birth, I will end up in an emergency c-section. I believe my personal odds are probably much worse since all the women in my family have had 16-36 your labors and I know that the hospital here won't let me labor past 20 hours.

That said I have had 3 significant surgeries in my life and feel like I'm pretty prepared to face the recovery and that it's mostly known difficulties. My sister in law was made permantly partly incontinent (has to wear pee pads for leaking every day) because of the pelvic floor damage she got giving birth to her son. I know that's not common, but she's done all the treatments and is still like that over a decade later.

Vaginal births have the best outcomes for babies. But if for whatever reason you don't want or think you can't have a vaginal birth, the outcomes for planned c-sections are 2.5x better than emergency.

I had the same debate a lot during pregnancy, I had (and still have) a lot of anxiety around giving birth naturally, so I chose a c section

I had a great experience, the medical team were amazing and the recovery was painful at times but I was able to get out the house within a few days

I would say if you have a c section make sure there is someone who can help you. My husband was on leave for 4 weeks and works from home, his help was invaluable

I had the choice of induction or c-section (had GD and was on insulin). I chose a section. It was the right choice for me and my baby but it was by no means the “easy way out”. Recovery for the first six-ish weeks post surgery is tough.

If fear is the issue I recommend watching positive birth stories on YouTube

If you have a healthy pregnancy I would always go for a vaginal birth. C section is made to respond to a health issue.

Failed sweep now cramping

I had an attempt at a sweep yesterday afternoon but my cervix was fully closed so midwife couldn’t perform it.

Since then I’ve been very crampy. Does cramping mean the cervix is softening?

Has anyone has a failed sweep that lead to cramping that turned into spontaneous labour?

Bad mood

Hello all,
(12w1d here)
I recently downloaded the app because my parter said it will be better for my mood.
I’m felling quite stressed, no energy to talk a part from work. I’m not calling anymore to my friends or family, I do not even have patience or energy to reply their messages. It’s makes me feel bed about it, because I’m not like that.
Has anyone been through this?
❤️ thank you
