Random vent

My son’s father has been trying to get under my skin. Today I officially broke and responded. We only text and I just respond to things to do with the baby only even if he said anything extra. But today he asked for a picture and in the same message said something rude. All I asked was could he stop I don’t appreciate being disrespected and asked him multiple times in the past to just stop. He played victim saying that im coming at him when all he wanted was a picture of his son. I haven’t sent the picture yet and quite frankly I don’t care to right now. I see nothing wrong with me defending myself from disrespect but ik he just wanted a reaction from me. Legit I hold my tongue all the time with him because he barely sees this wonderful 6 month old baby boy. Once every other week for an hour and doesn’t even interact just hold him while scrolling his phone. Doesn’t support him any way. But I don’t say anything just ignore that but the one time I defend myself I’m in the wrong.

Does anyone use coparenting apps? If so do you find them useful?

I’m sorry to hear that I know how rough it can be my babies dad is pretty disrespectful to me to and always turns my feelings around saying I’m the one to blame and we are no longer together nor living together, I can’t give advice on a co parenting app as I asked to use one and mentioned it to my daughters dad and he absolutely refused to get one , but I have seen and heard that others use it and find it to be quite successful.

Do you have any weird or "picky" food behaviours from childhood that you still do to this day?

Mine is that I used to make my mother strain the green bits out of ichiban instant ramen soup. I hated the feel and texture and everything about them. I still do it to this day (though I don't mind the flavour, so I let them soak in the broth, I just don't like them in the soup). Ironically I don't mind the kind in lipton's chicken noodle.

We often think of childhood food habits as something to grow out of, but honestly, how many of them actually matter if you're an adult? If you cut the crusts off of sandwiches for a dinner party and slice them into triangles, they become "fancy," whereas cutting the crusts off of a kid's sandwich is considered juvenile. How many food behaviours do we judge young kids for that don't actually matter in the end?

Do you have any weird childhood food-related quirks that you still do today? If so, what are they?

Fuel station query

If you are by yourself, after you’ve filled your car with fuel do you take your baby in to the kiosk to pay or leave them in the car?

Family drama/disagreements

I’m sure it’s more common than anyone would like to admit. For anyone who has gone through a pregnancy and had family issues/drama, how did you cope? What boundaries did you end up creating? I have a difficult mother who tends to be judgmental about my choices, and she’s recently made my partner uncomfortable with the idea of her being around our babygirl without him being around. I respect that as he is my partner and honestly it would save me some stress too. At the end of the day, she is my mom and our daughter’s grandma though and I don’t want to burn a bridge if I don’t have to. You know? Any advice on how to navigate this?

Overreacting or just pregnancy hormones and insecurity?

I'm a Ftm and I'm very relatively young I've been having partner issues I feel very strongly that he's cheating tbh he's cheated before and I forgave him due to us having a baby boy otw and I don't want to raise him in a broken household.we have our good moments where I forget the bad but I have moments where I don't feel loved I don't feel attractive and genuinely feel depressed and he dismisses it and me every night he's out late like 12-3 in the morning and makes it seem like I'm asking for to much when I ask him to be home at a reasonable time during the day he's constantly out the house and I'm always stuck in bc he has the car I basically paid for but isn't in my name bc I don't have my license I'm lonely all the time he's isolated from the friends I had and it's so hard to make new ones when I'm constantly stuck in the house idk what to do I'm financially dependent on him and would have nowhere to go if I leave I'm just hurt and anytime I express it or cry he says if something happens to the baby because I'm crying and stressing the blame is gonna be all on me making me feel guilty for feeling how I do I gave so much up for this man I just can't believe he's doing me like this

What activities / toys / anything is entertaining your no screen time babies (11 months +)

I’m Beginning to struggle to find things that keep her occupied at this age . She has Lost interest in her toys . In the Pushchair she gets bored quickly . I’m starting to feel I’m close to giving in to screens which I really don’t want to do yet . I think she’s too young for tonie box and she wouldn’t know the characters . If there’s something similar I’d give it a go . Any suggestions ?

Can you help me understand a cultural difference?

I (from the South) married into a Mexican family and I truly love them dearly. However, there are still things I’m trying to figure out with culturally.

My husband’s family insisted on planning my baby shower and is taking care of everything so I don’t have to stress about it. I was able to choose all the theme but other than that, everything else was being handled. Originally they were serving birria because it’s a food I really love and have been able to stomach throughout my pregnancy. However, my father-in-law requested for ceviche to be served instead. Two weeks before the shower, I find out the menu was changed to ceviche. When I asked the family about it and explained due to it being raw fish that’s something I cannot eat while pregnant, they responded that I could order a pizza and bring it with me to the party… I’m truly confused on if this is normal in Mexican culture. Is it when a man asks for something that’s the finale decision or if this was just a weird coincidence?

If you have experiences or explanations I would love if you could please share them. I’m truly not trying to complain. I just want to learn my husband’s culture better day by day.

Thank you.
