I have 2 toddlers, and sometimes I wonder if I’m wrong for wanting to move closer to a bigger community.
We currently live about 30 minutes from pretty much everything. We have 2 acres, a beautiful home, and my husband absolutely loves it here. This is his dream home and his dream town. He works from home, so I understand why he loves the privacy and peacefulness.
But my experience is different. I’m the one home with the kids and the one driving them to appointments, swim lessons, activities, parks, groceries, errands, etc. Their swim class is 30 minutes away, and there’s only one doctor nearby that takes our insurance, and that’s about 30 minutes away too. Even going to a decent playground means loading up two toddlers and driving 30 minutes.
There are some things nearby, but the choices are limited. The groceries are more expensive, there aren’t many restaurants besides fast food, and the local playground isn’t in great shape. We also have mostly retired people around us, so there really aren’t many kids in the neighborhood for our children to grow up and play with.
I know some people would look at our house and think I’m crazy for wanting to leave. We have 2 acres and a beautiful home. But I’m starting to realize that having a beautiful house isn’t the only thing that makes a home work for your family.
I want my kids to have a community. I want to be closer to parks, activities, restaurants, doctors, groceries, other families, and eventually their friends and schools. I want to be able to say, “Let’s go to the park,” without it becoming a 1-hour round trip with two toddlers.
Am I wrong for wanting to move somewhere closer to everything and in a bigger community?
I don’t hate our home. I just don’t know if this lifestyle is right for me and the kids anymore. ❤️

First off sending so much community love your way 🫶🏽🙂. And then as I dtart to read you post I notice you say alot of his wants. It's wonderful he has been able to provide the type of life that allows you to be a SAHM on the other hand I didnt see you mention this rural life is what you have always wanted.
But, I did see how you basically handle everything woth the children. Not sure if he helps or if his help is so constant its even worth mentioning.
You are not crazy for wanting to have a sense of community and all the comforts that come with being closer a town that has those things to offer and help make you feel less of how you are now.
Have you spoken to your husband about this? Is he willing to listen and you be heard? Does he care about the well being of his family especially his wife because the kids are paying attention no matter how little we realize they notice?

The home is where the heart is and it seems as thoigh you may be struggling a bit and feeling guilty bc you have been afforded the ability to have a beautiful home on 2acres. But I promise change is not all bad and having common ground for both is worth alot more. Both parents should feel at peace everyday.
Wishing and hoping nothing but the best for you and your family. 🫶🏽🫶🏽❤️

I completely understand how you feel!! I don’t live rural and it’s a decent size city but it’s a horrible town and I gotta drive an hour plus one way for doctors and dentists! And when it comes to my kids we don’t have many options for activities either, it’s why so many kids get into things they shouldn’t. And I’m now learning the importance of “location, location, location!” So just know you aren’t alone in how you feel! 🫶🏻
If you are by yourself, after you’ve filled your car with fuel do you take your baby in to the kiosk to pay or leave them in the car?

I'm a Ftm and I'm very relatively young I've been having partner issues I feel very strongly that he's cheating tbh he's cheated before and I forgave him due to us having a baby boy otw and I don't want to raise him in a broken household.we have our good moments where I forget the bad but I have moments where I don't feel loved I don't feel attractive and genuinely feel depressed and he dismisses it and me every night he's out late like 12-3 in the morning and makes it seem like I'm asking for to much when I ask him to be home at a reasonable time during the day he's constantly out the house and I'm always stuck in bc he has the car I basically paid for but isn't in my name bc I don't have my license I'm lonely all the time he's isolated from the friends I had and it's so hard to make new ones when I'm constantly stuck in the house idk what to do I'm financially dependent on him and would have nowhere to go if I leave I'm just hurt and anytime I express it or cry he says if something happens to the baby because I'm crying and stressing the blame is gonna be all on me making me feel guilty for feeling how I do I gave so much up for this man I just can't believe he's doing me like this

Me and my partner have been together 10 years and I’m almost 9 months pregnant with my second
I feel like he doesn’t even try to bond with the bump
Every time baby moves/kicks I get excited and say LOOK or Come feel and he just says “ew it freaks me out”
I feel like I’ve expressed the need and support that I need over and over again I’m tired of the one always cleaning, washing, planning things.
I’ve been the one to buy most of the baby stuff, only thing he bought was the pram in March even though my income is 3X less than what he makes
I try to get him involved in the decisions as little as what outfits we’re buying/ first outfit home etc but just feel like he couldn’t care less
He stays up till 4am all the time playing his games then wakes me up getting into bed with his phone or with him moving around and then expects me to wake him up in the mornings and it drives me insane as we already have another child who wakes up at 6am every morning and I’m the one constantly up and making breakfasts, cleaning etc whilst he knows I’m up and down all night needing to pee, drink so I’m not even getting full sleep myself
He doesn’t keep track of any of my appts, feel like he doesn’t pay attention to anything I say
Can’t remember the last time I got some flowers or even heard a “im proud of you and all this hard work you’re doing and going through”
I don’t have a mum, my dad lives in a different country and I have no mum friends and just want someone to be excited with me or feel listened to is that too much to ask for ? Am I just feeling it more because of my hormones or should I stand my ground even if it causes a argument

You're going out to the playground for an hour and they've been asked to take their washing out once the machine is finished.
But... The child lock is on and it doesn't open. They've never used this fairly new WM before.

We have ants sooooo bad. They are in our pantry sooo bad. Eating up and getting into our food. I was upstairs with my toddler, came downstairs and into the kitchen to see him spraying highly toxic pesticides. These pesticides are so toxic. You’re supposed to wear a mask and gloves while spraying them. It’s also not an indoor pesticide it’s meant for outdoors because you’re not supposed to breathe it in. He was spraying it in our pantry with our food in the pantry. Our pantry is so full with hundreds of dollars worth of food in there. I don’t wanna throw it out, but I don’t wanna be unsafe. I have a toddler and I’m six months pregnant… should I throw the food out? I don’t know what to do. I chewed my husband out for it. He somehow doesn’t seem anything wrong with it.. I felt this was really out of character for him. He’s always really safe and really smart about things. 🤦🏻♀️ what do I do? He only sprayed the ceiling and the top of the walls, but there is a top shelf a few inches down.

I (from the South) married into a Mexican family and I truly love them dearly. However, there are still things I’m trying to figure out with culturally.
My husband’s family insisted on planning my baby shower and is taking care of everything so I don’t have to stress about it. I was able to choose all the theme but other than that, everything else was being handled. Originally they were serving birria because it’s a food I really love and have been able to stomach throughout my pregnancy. However, my father-in-law requested for ceviche to be served instead. Two weeks before the shower, I find out the menu was changed to ceviche. When I asked the family about it and explained due to it being raw fish that’s something I cannot eat while pregnant, they responded that I could order a pizza and bring it with me to the party… I’m truly confused on if this is normal in Mexican culture. Is it when a man asks for something that’s the finale decision or if this was just a weird coincidence?
If you have experiences or explanations I would love if you could please share them. I’m truly not trying to complain. I just want to learn my husband’s culture better day by day.
Thank you.
