Early in the relationship we agreed that we will have mostly traditional family roles, he goes to work and makes money for the family, I stay home to manage the household and raise the children. My biggest struggle is keeping up with cleaning, I find it hard to do with 2 little ones constantly making messes, and when I do get the opportunity to clean motivation becomes an issue. I find it the easiest to clean when I'm actually proud and happy with the space I'm cleaning.
I started making home improvements to help improve my motivation, some matching furniture, matching bedding sets, replacing a few old items, hang some things on our bare beige walls, nothing too crazy. He'd complain about costs then complain about helping me if something needed power tools to put together but always enjoyed the end result of my ideas and our work. That's a common reoccurrance, him complaining and arguing against something the whole time just to find that he actually likes the results.
I'm trying to get to a point where I'm making family dinners more often and we all eat at the table I just upcycled for us but this is just another string of complaints. Complaints about the ingredients I get and the food I want to make for us that he's never even had before or has had and just doesn't want to spend money on the ingredients. I want to make 3 homemade meals this week, nothing too crazy either, and apparently that's asking too much for him to cooperate with. I want to make baked white fish, he complains he won't like it even though he says he hasn't had it, complains it might be expensive, complains it might stink up the whole house.
He just wants everything to stay as it's always been yet married me because he wants improvement and change in our lives together. If he were alone he'd be in a nearly bare apartment but I want to make it a home for our family and every idea I have or try out gets complaints and push back and never really receives the appreciation or thanks for it after he finds he does really like what I bring to the table. He wants me to consider being our children's homeschool teacher but I dread the potential complaints I'd hear from him, I'd need to see a change in attitude and support before I take on that task.
Anyone else relate or dealt with this before? Any advice that doesn't involve dramatically divorcing?

Learn more about our guidelines. When we first got together we were struggling but we got through it, we built us up from scratch, I don't want to settle for the basics even though the basics used to be what we dreamed of. We're finally in a good position now and I'm ready to keep building, I just don't know how I can get him to see that. It's like he's settled and waiting for something better to come along but I'm ready to make the most of what we have now instead of just waiting and hoping a better opportunity comes by.
Baked fish with broccoli and potatoes, stuffed bell peppers with killed lettuce, and southern tomato pie with chicken alfredo pasta are the 3 dinners btw if you're wondering 😜

What do you eat normally?

A hired homemaker could cost him 30K a year… a private tutor to homeschool even more 🥴

I don't have any solid advice but have you tried to talk to him about it? If you guys are able to find any one on one time like a date or just relaxing time in the room (but not before bed) maybe you could bring it up. Try to tell him how his reluctance is making you feel. Hopefully he can hear you out without getting defensive and maybe share what else is bothering him cause he should really appreciate all the effort and care your pouring into your guys home/family
I am so surprised and so proud of this and I wanted to share somewhere and here seemed appropriate 🥹

My in laws are very involved in my child's life, its a lovely problem to have i guess but sometimes I feel like my MIL oversteps and takes firsts away from me. This weekend we've gone for our first family holiday with my 9 month old and they've come with us, we mentioned we wanted to buy a baby walker and she's gone off and bought one without asking or telling us first.
Her first time at the beach and she was there and strolled off with her before I got chance to. Our first time with her on the swings and she's just...there.
Same as giving her ice cream/foods/sweets whatever, she just gives it to her without asking. Idk if I'm overreacting or I feel like a bit pushed out. She's my daughter and I just wanted to do some firsts with her myself. Not sure if I'm being mean and should just get over it. How would you approach it?

I’m getting really close to saying f this relationship over money. I’m with my kids dad. We have two. He is extremely spoiled. I peeped that a long time ago. He does not like to pay bills. I make less than him but I still end up paying the majority of the bills. Like say rent for the month of August was $1100 (it’s going to be $1700 next month but we’re on a move in special that ended this month). The phone bill was due $220. I had to pay my car note car insurance and light bill. All of those were about $200 as well. This man sent me $500 which I’m only factoring into the household bills not my own bills for my car. On top of paying bills I always buy groceries. He never does. He might buy like snacks for the kids after school but no food to make meals. I feel like I’m being crushed financially and he’s getting to put money up!

I think my relationship with my baby's dad is heading towards the gutter...
Ever since having my little boy I've been struggling with being physically involved with my partner, it's almost like the idea of it repulsives me?
I've never been a very romantic person, nor have I ever been very good at being intimate (due to abuse from a previous relationship).
Lately it feels like he's pressuring me into being intimate, and saying I don't love him because I can't do it. I've explained to him many times about how I'm feeling but it just doesn't seem to change anything. He even said he feels like we're just friends at this point.
He's aware of my past issues, and has no issues with that. I've had therapy for my past, but this seems different?
I don't know what I'm hoping for from this post, just feel like I need to air out how I'm feeling!
I've had a "breakdown" today, not that he found out. Just don't feel I have anyone to talk to about it

My partner has been working non stop (fine because the bills need paying) my 5 month old is very whiney. I put her down she whines, i pick her up she whines, rolls onto her tummy whines. And this is going to sound even worse and its as if im a bad mum. I do t know the difference between her tired or hungry cry, they sound the same to me. Its awful, I do everything i can and im feeling really stressed and low about it today. I know im a good mum I do everything to tey and keep her happy. Shes constant on the go, I dont know what else to do!! I just need to vent. Sorry and again please dont judge

How do you guys deal with when your husband doesn’t want to help take care of your kids?
We are first time parents our son is now 5 months and my husband hasn’t helped in almost 4 months he says he can’t take the baby crying or the screeching. So I’ve been doing everything on my own while working and being in college and taking care of our son.
