Dummy

Anyone else’s ratbag still got one? I have been desperately struggling to get rid of dummy since she was 2 now. I’ve tried the lot dummy fairy presents star charts, the meltdowns and lack of sleep are immeasurable. She is a true addict. She doesn’t have it in the day but will ask cry and meltdown all day and I eventually give in for bed. I’m planning to be cutthroat today. How long do the meltdowns last when you go cold turkey through the night? I’m absolutely dreading it.

My little boy does. We limited to car rides (when we wanted him to nap on a long journey) and bed. We’ve since taken it away for car rides so he just has it for bed. Going to have to tackle that sooner rather than later but we also have a baby and I’m exhausted 😂

Yep, just at night. Planning to ditch it soon, dreading it!!!

My daughter thankfully ditched her last September whilst we were holidaying in South Africa after I forgot to give it her one night. Although I did give it to her for the flight home but apart from that we never looked back! Just waiting for her 2 year old brother to ditch his or I may just take it off him regardless 😂

I done it just after her third birthday and told her she is a big girl and the fairies will take it away. She only had it at bed and for naps. We did it before she went to bed. Left box out and put a little present from the fairies so she saw it as a reward.
She did cry for a few evenings then eventually got over it.
Made her think it went to little children who needed it and worked for me.

Yes really struggling but it’s so hard my daughter has it at night or when she’s poorly, it’s her comfort and does no actual harm to her. They won’t have it forever. I will try again with it my aim is to get rid of it fully before she starts school next year!

Thanks ladies, I am so relieved to know there’s others in the same boat. I do get a bit embarrassed sometimes as people make me believe she’s too old and I’m lazy for not trying harder - hence the incognito, but I feel better to know it is a slower process for some kids!

Nappy changing help

So we only have this problem at night and it’s only a recent thing. So my son has been feeding a lot at night. Every 2 hours or so and completely emptying both sides before going back to sleep. This means his nappies at every wake up are extremely full. Every time I change him he pees or there is so much in the nappy it ends up all over his back and I have to change his clothes. I have tried a tissue over, I’ve tried putting the new nappy on and pulling the old one from under it (I guess like the knicker trick some of you may have done as kids) and it is still everywhere. I’m already exhausted getting up so often and having to do a full clothing change at night is a nightmare… please help!

Tips for sleep…

My 3 week old takes at least 1-2hrs to fall back asleep after her midnight feed, any tips to get her to sleep quicker? I rock her til my arms fall off, she doesn’t give a shit about white noise and startles herself awake a lot 😩 and any tips on transferring her to her cot without her waking up cos her sweaty head was sticking to my arm would be grand too! Thank you. ❤️

Sleep regression anxiety

Anyone else get anxiety towards the end of the day knowing their baby is going through a sleep regression? We are trying to sleep train him and night 1 went amazing, while night 2 was worse than the NB trenches.. I can literally feel my heart racing as the clock approaches his bedtime 😭 I don’t know if we should just accept that we are in the thick of it and try to sleep train him later or keep going?? Any advice helps PLEASE!!
(If you are anti-sleep training please scroll past this post as my husband and I have already decided we 100% are sleep training.)
