We're flying when my son is 5 months old and I think I am taking his Fox Renew 5 pram. The thing is, the carrycot is up to 9kg and he's already 8kg at 15 weeks š
He barely fits in it lengthways anymore and he hates being in it because he wants to look around. But the seat is only recommended from 6 months onwards and the official advice says babies should be able to sit upright without support and push up on their hands and knees before switching. He has great head control and can sit with support, but he's not there yet.
Has anyone been in this situation where your baby is stuck between sizes? What did you do for travel? I'm not sure whether to take the carrycot and hope he tolerates it or switch to the seat āfully reclinedā (which it doesnāt go flat but it reclines a lot) even though he's not 6 months yet. Also, has anyone thought about getting a stroller? Iām thinking about Yoyo3, Joie Nitro, Maxi Cosi Lara2 or similars.
Also any general travel tips would be really helpful:
-What do you do about ear popping during takeoff and landing?
-What should I pack for the flight?
- Do you use ear muffs or noise cancelling headphones for your baby? I bought the Alpine. Any other recs?
-Are you taking a travel cot?
I'd really appreciate any advice from anyone who have been through this or is thinking to travel soon please. Thank you ā¤ļø

My baby hit 9kg at 3 months old, we had no choice but to switch to the seat. As long as it lays flat or heavily reclined youāll be fine.
We have a Joolz Aer to travel with canāt recommend enough.
- Feed on takeoff and landing.
- spare clothes for you!
- nope never. The plane noise soothes them to sleep in my experience. Iām ex crew and Iāve never seen anyone use them on a flight for babies/ children either.
- no we use the hotels and take our own sheets as the ones they provide are never fitted.
Most of all.. have fun!

Also second no need for ear defenders. They donāt do anything for pressure change and the plane isnāt loud but just a constant source of white noise š¤. Feed on take off and landing but basically just enjoy how easy it is to take them away at this age as toddlers are much harder š¤£

I personally switch my daughter at 4 months she could basically hold her head up herself anyway she hated the carrycot. We will likely do the same this time around the seats all
Recline anyway. I would say itās safer if they are at the weight capacity for the carrycot x
Hi, last night me and my newborn (2 weeks today) fell asleep last night and I forgot to set my alarm for 3hrs and we both slept for about 6hrs without her waking up to feed, usually sheād start getting fussy and start crying so Iād wake up anyways but she didnāt last night only woke up and started being fussy 6hrs later
I fed her and changed her nappy immediately she drank about 3oz and I feel so bad and am so worried , she seems absolutely fine but went straight back to sleep after feeding
Is she going to be okay? I genuinely feel so so bad and donāt know what to do, sheās gained 6oz since birth (weighed 4 days ago) and never lost any of her weight shed gained an oz by day 5

How much did your child start talking during this time?
Mine is 19 months and can say all the basics like mama, dada, dog, cat, hat, cow, car, banana etc but she has been saying these since 13 months. So I am waiting on this explosion i read about. And her to start putting 2 words together.
Can anyone advise if this truly happens?

My hubby is 6ā5, Iām only 5 ft. We have a him size baby girl. Looking at her you wouldnāt think sheās over weight, she looks healthy but sheās a little chonk. Sheās 10 months this week but Iāve had to put her in size 7 nappies. What do I do after this? What size nappies is everyone using? Sheās half the size of my 6 year old boy, although he is a little short.

I have 3 children, my oldest 2 must have breezed through the 4 month sleep regression as I never had an issue! However my 4 month old is well and truly going through the four month regression! She was sleeping in her next to me crib would have a feed once a night and go straight back to sleep. Now she is only sleeping if sheās in my bed next to me and I just donāt want to get her in the habit of being in my bed all the time, but itās the only way Iām able to sleep myself! Any tips? Shall I just go with it for now?

My MIL has bought a cot for when our LO stays at hers. Sheās only 6 weeks old.
I know itās come from a good place and sheās probably just excited, but I canāt help feeling a bit uncomfortable about it. I think itās partly because it feels like thereās already an expectation that sheāll be staying overnight, when thatās not something Iām comfortable with or planning anytime soon. I donāt intend for her to stay overnight anywhere without us until sheās at least a year old.
Iām also uncomfortable with the fact that the cot has a second-hand mattress. Iāve mentioned my concerns to my OH, but he tends to brush things under the carpet rather than address them, and I feel like thatās just storing up an awkward conversation for later - especially if MIL expects us to put LO in the cot when we visit or keeps pushing for sleepovers.
I genuinely appreciate that sheās excited and wants to be involved, and I donāt want to seem ungrateful. At the same time, Iām frustrated that it feels like assumptions are being made about our baby without actually asking us first.
How would you approach this? Am I overthinking it, or is it reasonable to set the boundary now rather than waiting until it becomes an issue?
