I'm really struggling. Baby is 4 days old and She wont really settle after a bottle anymore. She gets hiccups and seems to have lots of gass, despite doing slow feeds with breaks for burping. She will settle if shes being held only but We are both exhausted with no sleep and im meant to be recovering and resting from csection. But dont understand how I can do that as my husband needs sleep too and I'mworried for him. Im worried we mightbe so tired that we make a mistake and harm her like falling asleep while holding. And you cant fall asleep holding her as its dangerous. Ive also had a bad intrusive thought and that's really scared me ðŸ˜

Hang in there mama! Ive found that feeding 90% of amount needed, then doing a nappy change, swaddle and finishing with the last little bit of milk helps my baby settle a lot faster than finishing with a change. It’s only day 4 - we’ve just hit day 8 but definitely found days 2-5 hardest while he was readjusting to the outside world!! I know it’s hard but take the naps where you can - alternate feeds with hubby and even just an hour here or there in the day will make a massive difference.
Talk to your midwife about the intrusive thoughts if you’re concerned, they will be able to recommend the best resources to help x

Hey have you tried swaddling ? Love to dream swaddles see very good . Swaddling is the only way my little one got settled . He had me up for hours on end and as soon as I introduced a swaddle it stopped x

For gas you could try infacol, that’s really helped our boy get rid of trapped gas from both ends! Me and my husband have also been taking it in ‘shifts’ during the night! He goes to bed around 10 and I wake him around 3, and I go to sleep until I wake up! I’m a night owl so that’s why I take first shift - not sure how we will navigate this once he goes back to work but for now it’s helping us both get the rest we need! For hiccups you can try a dummy if that’s something you want to offer your baby but it’s helped ours!
Totally understand intrusive thoughts but it does ease, I’m 3 weeks post partum and it is getting better, you’ll find your way I promise 🩵

Our little boy was the same. We’ve started using infacol with each feed which has helped but he’s still unsettled at 3 weeks old. Continue to take it in turns to nap rather than the both of you staying up at the same time as this will help with your mental health. If you become more worried you could see the GP in case it is reflux. I tend to keep our boy upright for 10 mins after feeding before burping and then once he’s asleep keep him on my chest about 15-20 mins before putting him down so he goes into a deeper sleep. Baby might also need to up their feed as they’re getting to day 5 when your milk comes in so they’re cluster feeding

Just wanted to send a hug and say you’re doing a great job! I had horrible intrusive thoughts on day 4 too, it’s definitely the hormones being all over the place and settling. Thankfully after a day or so, I felt much better and they haven’t come back. I’m 4 weeks postpartum now (my August baby ended up being a July baby!) and everything is much easier, you’ve got this 🤗

Have you tried very soft circular massages on the belly, perhaps not just after feeding but between feeds, clockwise, slow and very soft, no pressure. That worked with my first when a bit older and still does now all.tge Time.
It is very normal to feel what you do about partner, and worries, and fears.
The all world is new for you and for your baby it is her first hours of eating, digesting... It will get smoother an hour at a time for the three of you try to breath deeply, you have done so much and so well already!!✨
How do you shower yourself and baby like where does he go when I shower

My 5 week old seems so unhappy. I don’t understand whats wrong. She hates being put down. She sleeps fine for the first half of the night, after her night feed she spends the next 3 hours grunting and squirming. She will have a bottle then squirms and cries after it, but not always. I feel like i’m failing her.

I made a checklist for baby and I think im almost there BUT wondering if there was anything you needed but didn't know until you needed it? This is my first so my list is pretty standard I think (obvious bits) .. any input would be appreciated 💕

I guess I am not going incognito because if anyone wanted to reach out they could
Throughout my current relationship (4.5years) it has been made clear to me that i have a lot of unattractive and difficult traits. I guess prior to meeting my partner I just believed I was just how I was? I had never done "deep inner work" " spiritual work" "self improvement" i had done it professionally and i guess i had phases where physically i did better but ultimately I have been told and i do see a lot of it that i find it hard to say sorry, to take accountability, i feel constantly attacked and offended and any conflict does make me most of the time walk out or say i need space i find it so over whelming.
Im currently having my 3rd baby in 3.5years and my son (2yrs2mo) had a liver transplant when he was 7mo old so a lot of hospital time, also my partner had a long long history of drug addiction which he overcame but he has not worked 95% of our relationship, i did before my 1st and 2nd but not since my son was diagnosed at 7wks old.
Im asking for maybe someone somewhere for advice or a chat, i keep feeling like im a narcissist, a bad mom a bad partner, i feel like my family are better off without me sometimes YET i have always tried so so hard to keep our whole life together shielding my family from any outside shit and ive handled every prescription/appointment, i do 99% of the housework and cooking, im not in contact with family and i cut off all my old friends pretty much then moved 4hrs away so no social support
Is anyone hearing this?
Thanks fran x

When did your babies become happier ( if they were a fussy baby).
My baby just seems unhappy a lot of the time, if he’s not asleep or feeding he’s usually fussy and crying.
He has moments where he’s calm and engaging and it’s lovely but mainly he does just seem unhappy.
Does it get better? He’s 9 weeks old.

My 14-month-old baby is not talking yet and hasn't said their first single word. However, they are babbling, pointing, waving, following instructions, and know a few baby signs.
My husband says it's normal since every child develops at their own pace, but my mother says he is late as he should have said a few words by now.
I've been paying close attention to them, and they have reached all other milestones. I don't know whether I should be concerned or just keep observing for now. Has anyone else been through this?
