SAHM’s do you feel weird buying your man gifts with his own money? I guess it’s not weird but I feel that way because I used to want to buy my friends gifts with my own money when I lived with my parents.

I'm a big proponent of SAHMs getting a stipend for this among other reasons. Having your own money is important, and the work you do is also important and shouldn't be devalued. Having your own money to spend on things like this is validating, and you can put some of it away every month to have a small savings account in case of emergency.

Nope. I am daycare, a chef, a maid, a project manager for my family 🤣. All of which are honorable and integritable jobs that earn a living. If I wasnt here he would pay for it so… his gift is from my portion of income he is able to make because i “cover” all those responsibilities. Its our money🤣… not just his.

No, it’s like surprising him with something he wants and feels like maybe he can’t buy himself because he doesn’t need to spend the extra money. But I do all our finances, so if I see the budget there, or I budget ahead of birthdays etc, then I don’t feel weird about it. Christmas we agree to either spend a small amount and fill stockings, or do something together like the theatre and not do presents.

I don't feel weird about it because it still surprises my husband. He is so busy with work & travel related to work he loves finding a surprise gift when he returns. Even if it's something he's wanted it's still an element of surprise for him.

It’s my money too so no

I’m 33 weeks pregnant. My husband and I had a fight today and now he is saying he might not join me in traveling to a family wedding this weekend. That feels like a dealbreaker to me, like I can’t count on him to be there through the bad times. It makes me want a divorce. But I also feel like I cannot go through labor and the early days of having an infant alone. And of course divorce would have all kinds of financial and custody complications. My parents are planning to visit for a couple weeks around my due date but they live far away and I don’t have any family near by.

So my partner went back to work on Monday after having 3 weeks off. Monday itself wasnt too bad because I had made plans to see a friend, but yesterday I really struggled because we didnt see anyone. I have friends that I can message but its not really the same, and I have plans later in the week that im looking forward to but on the days where its just me and my two daughters(3 weeks & 9), I feel so alone. And it is only day 3 today so I know it'll get better but when my oldest (9) goes back to school next week I feel like its gonna be worse cos I will be on my own. Will it get better or will I just get used to it?
