Help. I spanked my toddler.

I didn’t mean to, it was on impulse and I feel terrible. I was trying to change her diaper and she was thrashing and kicking me. Next thing I knew, I smacked her bare butt. She’s 20 months old and I know the behaviors that have been irritating me are normal for her age. I’ve had such a short fuse and been short on patience this last week and I don’t know how to fix it. I’m looking for any advice. I don’t want to treat her this way or be this kind of mom.

If this happened for the first time, try to move on.Keep it easy, but make sure that you dont feel this way more often with her.If so, try to keep her in a safe place and take a ten minute break. If that is not still helping , seek for help from others

Personally, when I feel like I’m about to snap, I stop whatever it is I’m doing or trying to do.
The moment I feel hot and bothered, I let out a low groan (bc it helps me regulate) & pause. There’s been times my 5 month old is kicking and thrashing while I’m trying to put on a diaper and when I’m bothered by it, I leave him bare butt in his bassinet for a few minutes. He doesn’t want the diaper now? Ok fine. I’ll wait until he’s ready.
It works for me bc it lets my children know that I’m not gonna force them. We’re gonna wait until we’re both calm and try again.
Hang in there. I know it’s easier said than done, but if you don’t want to be that “kind of mom”, then patience is required, not just with your daughter, but with yourself. You’re learning, so is she, give some grace and try again.

I’ve made mistakes in anger too. It’s a terrible feeling but it’s good that you want to do better. Walk away if you’re feeling really angry is really the best advice I can give. Make sure the child is safe and just take a minute. Even be honest, tell them mommy needs a min. And if you do make a mistake, don’t be afraid to say sorry. It models repair in relationships and that’s really important for kids to learn.

Childcare tax free

I’m sorry to be annoying but I just don’t understand childcare tax free account on the gov website. My boy is due to start nursery next week and I’d like to take advantage of the tax free but I just don’t understand it.

Could someone please spare some time to explain it to me please?

Thank you

Going abroad

Hey, so I’m taking my 10 month old to Tenerife next week (my first abroad holiday with her), and was just wondering what essentials I need, how did people deal with washing bottles and sterilising, what water to use, do I take a car seat? The hotel states they will supply the travel cot, but do I just take my own instead or will the one there be okay. Any help/advice would be great☺️

starting solids

Hi guys! My baby is 4.5 months and i was wondering on whether or not to starts solids. Whenever me and my partner are eating she’s constantly focused on the food. She also puts anything from her hands to her mouth. Do you think I could start giving her purees like avocado?
