I’ve had 2 emergency ones and the worst part was getting a cannula put in my arm 😅 can’t even remember getting the spinal put in my back! Recovery is okay as long as you take it easy those first few weeks and don’t strain yourself and keep your wound clean and dry

Do they put u to sleep or give u pain relief

Yes they do. You get numb like normal epidural but it goes higher up so you won’t feel anything. But after you definitely need to be on top of your pain meds because it hurts a ton and will for multiple weeks or months. Are you getting a c section for medical emergency reasons or because you chose to?

They’re not bad! If you’re awake during, you feel some pressure & pulling but nothing painful in my experience. You’ll definitely be sore afterwards but if you take pain meds they give you at discharge and definitely take it easy, it’s not bad!

Had two and I’ve had worse period pain. I was in Costco 5 days after birth.

I hated my emergency one. I loved my elective one and healed so well. I’d 100% do it again easily and happily

Stay on top of your pain meds even if you feel ok.

You mostly feel pulling and togging. I felt some pain but he was like IN my hip.

The cannula hurts in your hand. They spinal hurts but mine went in in the middle of a contraction which was just diabolical! But you dont feel the c section at all. Its a wierd sensation cause you can feel them pulling you and yoy feel your body move but no pain at all.
Recovery just takes time. Ita different for everyone I suppose. I struggled putting my legs in and out of bed the most cause of the sideways motion. And it was agony for me putting the pushchair in the boot of the car. But use your judgement and do not push yourself beyong your limit and it wont take long. You wont feel pain in the section I promise

My spinal and recovery was the worst part. I'm pretty overweight so getting the spinal in the right spot took a decent minute, and when its not exactly where it needs to be you'll feel like lightning zaps down one side or the other. Not overly painful but definitely not comfortable. During the surgery YOU WILL FEEL IT! Nobody talks about this! You will feel every pull and tug and lots of pressure, you absolutely WILL NOT feel any pain though or anything sharp. It is a very weird feeling but not painful at all. The worst part is when they push at the top of uterus to get baby out and then massage the uterus after, it feels like a crap ton of weight on your chest. If you get panicky or feel sick tell your anesthesiologist immediately, they'll help. (They'll be at your head 99% of the time and able to talk to you for the most part. You can ask them questions about anything you hear too that might sound freaky).
Afterwards, a spinal wears off in 3-8 hours and they'll probably want you walking at or before +

Okay so I had one recently, it was emergency and I couldn’t feel any pain just tugging. It’s a weird sensation but it has no pain in the procedure, couldn’t even feel my toes loool. If it starts to feel a little uncomfortable they can tip your spinal up like they did with me. Pain was 0/10 during the procedure. The IV in my hand was what hurt most 😖 but after you need to make sure you’re on top of your pain meds or it will hurt , but if you take them properly it’s great relief

Mine was breech too. C section was great , yes pain after but after a few days much more manageable. My son had a lot of body tightness caused by being breech , needed physio, so my advice would be to keep an eye out for that x

I had an elective two years ago and honestly the hardest part is the first walk to the loo. If you keep on your pain meds if manageable! I am a super wimp with pain and managed a section.

My C-section was the most peaceful lovely experience. You won’t feel anything. You’ll be sore once everything wears off but it is very manageable!! You got this

I had an emergency which was quite traumatic as it was all so rushed and recovery was harder. IV just had an elective 3 weeks ago and honestly recovery was so much better id do it again.
Yes it's painful and even if you feel ok you need to stay on top of medication cus the minute you don't it'll hit you.
First 4-5 are definitely the worst . But when they tell you to get out of bed please do it. The sooner you move the easier it is. Yes it hurts and yes it's scary but they do it for a reason.
I was home within 24 hours and I only hurt now if I do too much as internally I'm still very much healing.

Not at all for me. I had an emergency one after 26 hours of labour and a failed epidural (had to get another at 8cm dilated). And honestly? That was the worst part haha. The procedure went by quickly and painlessly. Recovery was okay. I was walking same day. I had dogs that needed walking when we got home (no yard) and we had 2 flights of stairs in our house.

I slept in an electric chair for 2 weeks though. It would bring me up to standing and then lie me back down again. I think that was the biggest help. I had had my appendix out already and knew that chair would be my saving grace. My appendix surgery and recovery was 10X worse than this c-section.

I even had some complications post surgery. something ruptured inside, leaving a 15cm hematoma behind my incision. That leaked out for 3-4 weeks. Popped stitch which needed to be packed and dressed at the hospital. An infection that needed 3 rounds of antibiotics, one of which I couldn’t breastfeed on.
