Inductions

They are absolutely obsessed. Im sure I read that its like 1 in 3 now. I was induced last time. This time thankfully everything is low risk, I had my final scan yesterday and the doctor said all good, the midwife will see you at 40+2 if you havent gone into labour by then, call us if anything changes, which felt like a relief. Got home and I then had a text with an automatic induction booked in for 41 weeks, she didnt even discuss it with me!

I was worried my hospital where just pushing for no reason too because even my friends mum was saying she felt like my friend shouldn’t have had such an early induction. But I trusted them with mine that they were making the right decision (same hospital as friend) because they did try and look at every possibility first. If they hadn’t have done that then I think I would have been hesitant to go ahead with it. If anything it was the first doctor who seemed pushy about it to begin with. Then she spoke to someone higher up who said they had no immediate concerns and to return 2 weeks later another scan. Then at that next scan said we could safely wait for another week before getting things moving on an induction, which should be today if they can get me in. About to call now and make sure they still want me in at 4pm.
But the stories I hear all the time of women being pushed and pushed for inductions is crazy!

Ive been advised to have one at 39+6 as its the hospital policy as its IVF. Although there isnt much evidence for it

I’ve heard they automatically book inductions in for everyone at 41 weeks. I’m definitely not being induced, I was last time and it didn’t even work. I started the induction and my daughter wasn’t even born until 5 days later. By which time I was 41+5 so she was bound to be born around then anyway

I had small growth and placenta abnormalities flagged and a newly registered Obstetrician tried to push me for induction at 37 weeks with less than 24 hours notice. I gently questioned it, the obstetrician instantly backed off and said we could do a week of further tests.
All the further tests came out normal, but he's tried to pressure me into an induction at 39 weeks now. I had a chat with my midwife and she confirmed that the doctors can often be induction happy because they don't want any risk on their hands but also I had an outdated note stating I was 'intermediate risk of pre term birth'. A different Obstetrician assessed me a couple of weeks before the induction happy one, and stated I was cleared as 'low risk' but the new guys hasn't picked up on the notes 🤷🏼‍♀️🙃
