How accurate have peoples growth scans been? I had a scan at 40+1 and they said the baby is measuring 8.15lb! At 36 weeks she was measuring 6.2lb, so this seems like a massive jump! From the 43rd percentile to 95th! Those who were told they were having big babies, were they born big? I'm only 4'11ft, husband is 6ft and all his family were big babiesšš

We were meant to be 75th centile and were only 32nd so Iād say not very accurate š¤£

Agreed, my baby's predicted size from scans was way off!

My babyās predicted size was way off, they induced me @ 38 weeks because they said heād be 9-10lbs, 99th centile⦠he was 7lbs 13 and 67th centileš¤£

They said mine was measuring big and he was born 6lb 3½oz

My first was measuring 75th percentile (told me to expect around 9lb full term) had him at 40+4 and born on the 25th weighing 7lb 1. My second they told me he was measuring on the 95th percentile so to expect a really big baby full term, had him at 39+4, born on the 75th percentile weighing 7lb 8 so from my experience not very x

My son was on the 9th centile but then went down to the 3rd centile in the last week. He was supposed to be 4.12. When he was born he was on the 10th centile and was 5.2. So mine was close

Mine was measuring big. I had weekly growth scans and it was accurate. He was born 10lb 2oz š

My baby measured 8lb 11 at 39 weeks and was born 10lb 10 at 41+5

Way off. They tries to induce me with both because they were measuring small (around 2 kg). Both came out over 3.5kg.

I had a growth scan at 40+3 as my measurements had jumped like crazy - was told he was measuring 11lb9oz and was a 100 centile baby - he ended up being 11lb1oz and 99 centile š¬ heās now 5 weeks old and over 13lbs

My baby was predicted to be around 9-10lb and was born 4 days early at 8lb 15 so it was fairy accurate!

I was induced because my son was predicted 6lbs 11oz and he was actually 6lbs 5

My little girl measured big, i had gestational diabetes (insulin controlled) they said she was going to be a big baby. Induced and emergency c section at 39 weeks. She was 6lbs4oz

Mine were correct, had to have an emergency c1 c section 10 days early dont know fully what happened but think it was due to her size and positioning made my blood pressure and her heart rate become dangerous and she was just over 9lbs. I was 92nd percentile. Ps everyone made out they were way off. Follow your gut, I just knew she'd be bigger going of my partners family history. I was due to be induced a few days after I ended up having my emergency. It could be way off but if you feel theyre right its better to be knowledgeable of how things could go. Just my experience and opinion

I was measuring big, offered induction at 38 weeks but refused as I didnāt ālookā big. Baby was born at 41+5 and weighed 11 pounds 5 š
There is a study however that shows predictions to be 60% inaccurate, and I think allow 25% each way of their prediction.
Just remember your body wonāt grow a baby to a size it canāt give birth to! (Obviously not considering other complications)

I wouldnāt say growth scans are completely accurate as I had one at 36 weeks and they said she was weighing 5lbs 11 ( smaller side) and when she was born at 39+5 she was 5lbs 14 so they canāt always get it right x
What was your recovery like? How much help and support did you need for the first few weeks?

So I gave birth 15 months ago and had quite a traumatic vaginal birth (forceps, episiotomy, 3rd degree tear etc) Iām pregnant again and Iām thinking to go for an elected c section as I cannot bear to think about going through all that again or even taking that risk. Has anyone had an elected c section before? Would you recommend? How was your experience? Any tips or advice would be appreciated x

I had my first baby via c section on April 6 2026. At 40 weeks.
I want to conceive again September 2027. However I am a bit fearful about it because Iāve heard about all the complications and the possibility of having another c section. I have the iud currently in place to prevent pregnancy until Iām ready again.
My pregnancy was absolutely perfect no sickness or complications and very healthy with no risks⦠up until the last second when I needed the emergency c section after being medically induced. Happy to answer any questions but mostly looking for answers.

It feels like if you have pins and needles in your feet and you stand on them..
