Potty Training

I’m not going to survive this. She’s 3 years and 3 months. I’ve tried everything. Countless pantless weekends, undies, thicker undies, my mother came for an entire week to try. We’ve tried off and on since December 2025. I’m 14 weeks pregnant and am so emotionally drained by this. I feel like I’ve failed my child. I don’t know what to do.

Same here girl!! Well, I’m not pregnant but I work full time and we have an elderly incontinent dog that started peering all over the house so I’m now also changing HER diapers and cleaning up accidents. Also emotionally drained. We’ve tried the positive reinforcement, we’ve also tried everything you’ve mentioned and he has zero interest in using the potty. I don’t know what to do. He will never be accepted into any school unless he’s potty trained. And he should be starting next year. I’ve started to get angry and scold him. I don’t want to but we’ve literally exhausted all other methods. I also need help with this. You aren’t alone!!!!!

I’ve done sticker charts. She could care less. She’s even got certain milestones like telling us when she’s about to pee! We read the books. She knows peepee and poopoo goes in the potty. But for some reason when she has to go and we make it to the potty on time she’s scared of it going in the potty. 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ I don’t know where this fear came from?? And we want preschool to help but they have a rule that if there’s two accidents then they get a pull-up so idk how long that will even last.

You have not failed! I know how exhausting it is when pregnant. I have been there! My girl is the same age as yours and she had been doing so good for 6 months. But she has regressed lately. We went back to giving her “treats” when she goes on the potty. Kind of like potty training a puppy lol. We give her a little cheese ball if she goes or little chocolate chips. That is what worked before so we are doing that again.
Also, my first is 5 now and she was not even ready to start potty training until she was 3. By 3.5 she was fully potty trained and has not had a single accident since then. Every child is different. I think there is a lot of pressure on us to get our littles potty trained so we don’t have more than one in diapers at a time. But sometimes it just takes longer, if we start before they are fully ready. Hang in there, it will pass eventually. I was 40 weeks pregnant potty training my May baby, she was doing great, now we are back to training again 6 months later.

Ugh thank you. It’s just all the rules. Don’t traumatize them. Don’t be weak. Ok well either I force her or I don’t?! And then you aren’t supposed to encourage with food apparently. It’s all this shit you aren’t supposed to do and I’m like THEN HOWWWWW. Haha but seriously thank you. It just feels like it’s me that’s doing something wrong.

I would just keep her in pullups and let her see other kids at school going. She will want to do what they are doing and start going potty in the toilet instead of pull up. It’s different for every kid. She may be afraid of toilets flushing so i would avoid it flushing too, but she could find it scary and uncomfortable until she sees the other kids doing it. I have friends whose kids were not day trained until age 4. At least at 3, she can take her own diapers off and throw them away and put on a new one herself.

Pre school

My Mum and sister are constantly asking me when my son is starting nursery. Do any other SAHMs constantly have family pressuring them to put their child in nursery? My son is 3 and a half and we are both happy with our little routine and he said he doesn’t want to go to nursery. Plus I want to make the most of our time together before he goes to school 🥺 Pros and cons to nursery? Will he struggle at school if he doesn’t go to a pre school first? We go on trips and to play groups so it’s not like he’s not social and he’s very clever for his age already knows the alphabet and can count etc.

What would you do?

I am having a really hard time with my husband. We have been together almost 18 years and we have a 7 year old and a 6 month old.

He has always enjoyed alcohol, but the last year or so he has struggled with anxiety and is using it as a coping mechanism, he drinks almost every day. He has had therapy but this hasn’t seemed to make much of a difference. I grew up with an alcoholic father who died when I was 10. I always wanted different for my children but right now it feels like history is repeating itself.

He went out at 10.30 yesterday morning and didn’t come back till midnight, when I confronted him he was drinking alone in the living room and he looked like he had taken cocaine (he denied this), the worst thing is I noticed he had driven home from wherever he had been. I told him he doesn’t care about me or his children and that I was done, he just looked through me and said he was tired and he didn’t no why I was having this conversation now.

I have well a truly had enough, me and my kids deserve better.
Only thing is I have no where else to go and without him I am not financially stable. If I ask him to leave he will just point blank refuse.

What do I do?

what age do you think is appropriate for a child to be allowed to plug stuff into an electrical outlet on their own?

think like plugging in a lamp or a phone charger, etc.

Going it alone

I don't really know how to explain how much I'm struggling right now.

I had an emergency C-section and since coming home I've been trying to recover while looking after my newborn on my own.

The sleep deprivation has been brutal. I'm exhausted all the time I'm still dealing with physical pain and I'm trying to keep up with feeding, bottles, nappies, washing, the house and everything else that doesn't stop just because you're struggling.

My babys dad has left and come back repeatedly since I fell pregnant.

Since having the baby there have been more occasions where he has walked out, blocked me or disappeared, leaving me to deal with everything alone.

The relationship is now over and I'm trying to come to terms with that while simultaneously caring for a tiny baby.

The hardest part is that I loved him. I'm not just dealing with the practical reality of being left I'm grieving the person I thought I was going to raise my baby with and the family life I thought we were going to have.

I don't have family support to fall back on.

There isn't anyone who can just pop round, take the baby for an hour, make me something to eat, help with the house or sit with me when I've had a horrendous night.

I've reached a point where I'm completely overwhelmed.

I've had days where I've barely eaten struggled to drink enough and felt like I'm just surviving from one feed to the next.

People tell me I'm strong and that I can do it, but honestly, I don't want to have to be strong all the time.

I want help. I want someone to look after me for a change.

I absolutely adore my baby and I'm so grateful for him but doing this alone wasn't the plan.

I'm sharing this because I really need some mum-to-mum support. I just want to talk to people who understand what it feels like to be struggling and feel like you're carrying everything alone.

Feeling Frustrated!!!!!!

I have two children. My mam keeps making comments like “you’re sticking to the rule book, you’re supposed to let all that go with your second”

By the ‘rule book’ she means safe sleep guidelines, bottle prep, weaning at 6 months etc. I kept my oldests cot empty, made bottles as he needed them and started solids at 6 months exactly, never had any problems and so we’ve done exactly the same for my second and for some reason it’s very triggering for her. Recently my youngest has had a cold and the vapour rub we have is 6 months+ my youngest is only 4 months so we’ve not been able to use it. She’s constantly on at me “he’s the same size as some 6 months old he’ll be fine” and when i refused she throws the same “you’re supposed to be more relaxed with your second one it won’t do him any harm”

I’ve told her countless times to keep her useless opinions to herself. Why would I not follow safety and health guidelines? Why is she almost putting pressure on me not to? ITS SO ANNOYING

Relationship after baby

My partner has never taken responsibility in an argument before or really apologised it’s always sorry but you made me etc sorry but it was your fault because xyz
Now the arguments have went next level last time he called me names such as fat pig/dog we overcame that, but again he has proceeded to do the same he’s called me pig, fat, I weigh as much as a man, wouldn’t be able to find someone like this but he can. He also said he should have cheated on me whilst he had the chance. He went on to throw stuff at me and I threw something back which means I started it. He thinks it’s acceptable to push me and me not retaliate if I do, it makes it my fault.
I never name called him first but after he called me them names I did call him names back and after he pushed me I did retaliate.
