How do you feel about your baby being passed around to be held by people who didn't ask?

For example say you didn't like certain family members, you didn't trust their personal hygiene and generally you do not get along, but they are part of your family, do you just grin and bare it and let them hold your baby? Or do you say something?

Because it happened to me today and I didn't want to be awkward or sound horrible, but this man I legit just cannot stand him, and my mum (who I do not get along with either but I already feel like I need to let her hold baby) she passed my baby to him without asking me and it made me feel so uncomfortable. He's just a horrible person, and I don't trust his hygiene, he has long dirty fingernails, he doesn't smell clean, and he gives me the creeps. I just shut down and freaked out internally. I didn't know if it was fine to say something or if it would've been overdrramatic and cause drama for no reason?

I just make up excuses. Oh I need to change the baby now and grab the baby before anyone has anything to say and walk off. It's so rude though!

Personally I dont go to family events where people i dont like or dont want around my child are going to be. Because it would be my mom handing my baby over to the person I despise and then acting all innocent "what was I supposed to do?"

Urghh..its the most horrible feeling isnt it! I hated it when my partners neice who at the time was about 15 and has a ton of issues would just grab my baby out the pram or my partner would pass our baby to her!
I'd feel sick inside!
My go to would be baby wearing when you know certain family members will be around with grabby hands!

I would literally just say “it’s time for baby to come back to momma” and make it a positive experience for my baby get them to smile and want to come back to me.
If I got any flack from family members I just tell them “sorry, we’re done passing the baby. If you would like we can sit right here and you can still talk to them”

I’m going to a large family event soon. My child will be 10mo so past the age of serious concern. At this event will be a big number of people who have made no effort to meet my son (who live close by and I’ve offered many times). I’ve made it clear to my husband and parents that my son will not be handed round these 10+ people like a pass the parcel.

But I’m feeling somewhat bitter towards these relatives if I’m honest.

I’d probably let them hold baby once. But try to avoid it other times. Usually I’m fine if people just pass the baby around I don’t really care. If someone was gross to me I would let everyone not just them specifically because like hey please wash your hands before washing baby. And if I knew someone smoked or something I wouldn’t let them hold baby if I knew they currently smelled like it. For this situation I’d let them hold baby for like two second then I’d be like I think it’s time for baby to eat even if it’s not and take them and walk away for a bit.

If we're all talking and my mom passes the baby to someone I don't want holding my baby, I will casually walk up to the person and take my baby while still holding the conversation. That's my kid IDC how you feel or think what I or my husband says go.

Pre school

My Mum and sister are constantly asking me when my son is starting nursery. Do any other SAHMs constantly have family pressuring them to put their child in nursery? My son is 3 and a half and we are both happy with our little routine and he said he doesn’t want to go to nursery. Plus I want to make the most of our time together before he goes to school 🥺 Pros and cons to nursery? Will he struggle at school if he doesn’t go to a pre school first? We go on trips and to play groups so it’s not like he’s not social and he’s very clever for his age already knows the alphabet and can count etc.

what age do you think is appropriate for a child to be allowed to plug stuff into an electrical outlet on their own?

think like plugging in a lamp or a phone charger, etc.

When your family members or, trusted friends babysit your child(ren). Do they respect your boundaries?

To elaborate,
- If you have a baby/toddler that they put your child for a nap when needed/scheduale.
- They feed your children at the times when they would expect to eat (respect your childs meal times e.g. 12pm & 4pm)
- They don't give your child(ren) sweets/pop if they're not allowed those things.
- If your daytime potty trained child, still wears a nappy for bed, that they put a nappy on them.
- The list is endless to whatever your boundaries are for your child(ren).

Am I in the wrong?

Our son is 14 months and I was tired this morning and gave him a leftover krispy cream donut for breakfast, my husband saw and got upset about it. Was he overreacting or was I in the wrong? I didn’t think it was a big deal

Feeling Frustrated!!!!!!

I have two children. My mam keeps making comments like “you’re sticking to the rule book, you’re supposed to let all that go with your second”

By the ‘rule book’ she means safe sleep guidelines, bottle prep, weaning at 6 months etc. I kept my oldests cot empty, made bottles as he needed them and started solids at 6 months exactly, never had any problems and so we’ve done exactly the same for my second and for some reason it’s very triggering for her. Recently my youngest has had a cold and the vapour rub we have is 6 months+ my youngest is only 4 months so we’ve not been able to use it. She’s constantly on at me “he’s the same size as some 6 months old he’ll be fine” and when i refused she throws the same “you’re supposed to be more relaxed with your second one it won’t do him any harm”

I’ve told her countless times to keep her useless opinions to herself. Why would I not follow safety and health guidelines? Why is she almost putting pressure on me not to? ITS SO ANNOYING

Partner Going Back to Work

Hello! I'm 8 weeks pp and my partner is going back to work on Tuesday, he was only due to have a month off but I suffered from post partum depression so he took an extra month off to support me (I know I'm very lucky to have had him around for so long!). I'm feeling so anxious about it, he's a nurse so does 2 12 hour shifts a week and 2 8 hour shifts which is filling me with worry about of I can cope all day with the baby, I'm feeling a little better after starting medication and growing in confidence but I still haven't really took him anywhere on my own that wasn't just a walk around the park to get a coffee, I know they're are lots of groups in my area but I have this fear he will just scream and everyone will look at me as if I can't soothe my baby, I'm just after any tips to make the first week a bit more bearable on my own?
