I’m FTM and as I approach my due date I’m getting anxious of a vaginal delivery. And thinking of electing a c sec. I know it’s a major surgery but I think vaginal delivery will be quite painful and everytime I think of it I’m traumatised. Would love to get opinion from others who have made this journey…

I've done both and would opt for c-section if I had another. The physical recovery is harder for obvious reasons but the benefit knowing when/where/how made the decision for me. The anxiety of not only the pain of a natural delivery as well as the unknown made me very anxious, so all of that was gone with the decision to go with a c section. Hope this helps.

I've had 2 emergency csections. I tried to have a vbac with my second but it didn't work out. i desperately wanted a vaginal birth for many reasons. Please read into the risks and benefits of both. c section is by no means an easy way out or less painful although the pain is after and not during. I had easy recovery from my csections but it was still incredibly painful at first and hard as you are quite limited with movement initially. it's your choice! x

Vaginal delivery every time! Why make yourself high risk for future pregnancies for no reason..have you spoken to your midwife/obstetric team about your fears?

I was petrified of having a vaginal delivery but it was better than I thought! My water broke at 5pm, I was 10cm at 1am and then waited a little for her to drop lower and then pushed her out in 5 minutes at 1:40am x only did it with gas and air and when your constantly puffing on it i couldn’t feel the pain of contractions, no tears no stitches for me and I was up having a shower within 30 minutes after having my toast and breastfeeding and skin to skin x next morning I didn’t even need painkillers I was okay ❤️ I was in two minds about a c section due to my anxiety but I was so glad I didn’t as once she was out the relief was great and it was nice to not be in massive pain, hats off to all that did have a c section

I had an elective c section with my first baby 5 weeks ago, so I’ve never had a vaginal birth. It was such a beautiful special day and was so good for my anxiety around birth in so many ways. The physical recovery has been harder than I expected but not impossible and not excruciating. It’s less of a sharp pain and more of a tenderness that slows me down if that makes sense. I’m not able to lift the buggy into the car for example. I still wouldn’t change my choice. I hope that is helpful in some small way. Now that I’ve had my baby I weirdly feel less scared of the prospect of a vaginal birth in the future but that might change. Huge good luck xxx

I wish I could have gone down the vaginal route but poor MH and anxiety, vaginismus and GD (baby needed to come early but I didn’t want an induction) pushed me to a c-section. Do I regret the section? No. But I wish I’d been brave enough to try for vaginal.

I had a c section, in future I hope to be able to birth naturally. I hated not being able to hold my girl properly afterwards because of the drugs and numbness then because of the pain in my abdomen. I also had some complications with healing that made the first couple of months of motherhood even harder. I also think people dont realise how long and painful healing process. I tried to suck it up but it was a long, exhausting and painful recovery for me. I only really started to feel better at 9 weeks pp. But ive not birthed naturally so I still cant compare and at the end of the day its your decision but from my experience no mater how scary the idea of vaginal birth is If possible im opting for thst next time (i was a category one emergency c section. I never went into labour, I had no choice it was c section or lose me and my girl)

Vagina birth all the way. Yes it hurts but once baby is here you won’t remember the pain or be in pain anymore. C- section SUCKS! You are in pain, can’t move and the recovery is hard! I’ve had both and Vagina all the way

I’m a FTM and I had such a quick and sudden delivery that even though my son is 2 months old, I genuinely still can’t believe he’s mine and that he’s here.
Jonah came a month early, 35.5 weeks. On my birthday! I labored for around 4 hours, pushed for 10 minutes and he was here. I was also up and about almost immediately after. Felt like superwoman until all my chronic illnesses came back lol
How did your labor and delivery go?

I feel so fed up and miserable and feel like I’m just waiting around in limbo which is really not gonna help the oxytocin! I’ve done all my jobs, the housework is all done, kids are back to school this week and getting bored of just chilling watching Netflix all the time. Can’t really exercise as PGP is super painful! Please help 🙏🏼
