What are people’s thoughts or experiences on a home birth? I’m very interested in having one, I am pregnant with my first child, and am having mixed responses from others.

Friend of mine had all 3 of hers at home and she had an excellent experience. I want a hospital birth but it's my own preference. Are you thinking of having a doula?

I would if I could, but there's no homebirth service where I live! Your risks of intervention, tearing, PPH, and birth trauma are much lower at home.

My sister in law had a wonderful experience with her first and is hoping to have her second at home too but says the team haven’t been as helpful this time in the lead up.
I’m aiming for a home birth too but very prepared to change that plan if we need to!

I had my first in the hospital and my second at home. Pregnant with the third and it a home birth for sure. The amount of trauma I experienced in the hospital will stay with me. Then again, everyone’s birth experience is different. I felt a lot more in control and no unnecessary checks like they did for my first. Also being home surrounded by loved ones was just the best feeling.
What exactly do you want out of your birthing experience? Do your research and see which aligns best with your plan.
You got this!

I’m in a similar position. Tried to really consider the pros and cons from each side and the elements that are swaying me toward a home birth are: continuity of care, reduced stress levels, reduced chance of interventions and tearing.
It seems from what I’ve researched is that it’s 50/50 on whether you get transferred to hospital and if there are any complications this travel time feels like the biggest risk for me. Our travel time to hospital isn’t too long but still, I don’t know what would happen in any given scenario.
It’s such a tough decision!! Hoping to ask further questions on my next antenatal appt and at our antenatal class to try and figure it out.
I found this podcast episode quite informative https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/is-it-normal-the-pregnancy-podcast-with-jessie-ware/id1584474367?i=1000543326593

My first was a straight forward birth in the MLU at hospital, so went for a home birth second time. It was amazing and I hope to have another home birth when we have another baby.
I did nearly have to transfer in due to placenta, but all was resolved and we got to stay home. Before birth I was very open to going into hospital if when I went into labour I just didn’t feel happy being at home, but the second I was in labour it felt completely right being home so just went with my instincts. Think I would have been nervous if it was my first birth though!
Is it normal for my baby to sweat so much even when she’s in a onesie anytime she naps or sleeps her head an neck are to wet

I feel like lots of women in this group are starting to feel similar now 😮💨
I’m a FTM so this is all new to me but I’m really feeling like my bump’s dropped, been backwards and forwards to the loo today and have eaten nothing that might give me a dodgy belly so thinking it’s hormonal or something?
Feeling super heavy like I’m dragging myself around, belly is really tight, staying in one position for too long is getting hard.
I am quite ready for this baby to be out and I know you’ll all understand 🥹
How’s everyone else feeling? 🤍

I’m FTM and as I approach my due date I’m getting anxious of a vaginal delivery. And thinking of electing a c sec. I know it’s a major surgery but I think vaginal delivery will be quite painful and everytime I think of it I’m traumatised. Would love to get opinion from others who have made this journey…

Hey, I am 38 + 2 and feeling completely and utterly miserable. I haven’t had a decent night’s sleep in weeks, my heartburn is horrendous, moving around is so difficult, and I have a 3-year-old at home with me who is an absolute pocket rocket, I feel so bad because I’m just not myself at all and feel like I’m failing him.
I’ve even found myself getting jealous of people on this forum who have had their babies early (which is crazy IK), and the waiting game is really starting to do my head in. There’s plenty of other stuff I could add to the list lol! I don’t remember feeling this aggy with my first but I think it was because I could sleep when I wanted and had a bit more freedom.
I’m sure plenty of yous are feeling the same, but I was just wondering if anyone has any tips on how to get things moving that have worked for them?
I’m pretty sure I’ve been losing my mucus plug over the last week or two and I’ve been having plenty of Braxton Hicks. I was due to get a sweep this Tuesday coming, which has honestly been my motivation for getting through this week (I know they don’t always work, but I still had hope 😭), but it’s been cancelled and is now pushed to the 9th of September, which has just added to my misery.
