OMG! Where did he fall from and has he been to the ER?

Instantly ask what happened, how it happened and when it happened- worked in childcare for 6 years that's a decent cut

Claude’s suggestions:

That’s a nasty split lip injury - it looks like the lower lip has a deep laceration, possibly through the full thickness (you can see it’s gaping open rather than just cut on the surface). Here’s what I’d do in that situation:
Get it assessed urgently - this looks like it likely needs medical review, possibly stitches or glue, especially if:
The cut goes all the way through the lip (visible from inside the mouth too)
It’s still gaping open rather than the edges sitting together
There’s a cut on the frenulum (the bit connecting lip to gum) - these bleed heavily but usually don’t need stitches
Any teeth look loose, chipped, or out of position - worth checking those front teeth in the photo
Where to take him:
A&E or urgent care if the cut is gaping/deep, or if you’re at all unsure
In the meantime:
Firm, gentle pressure with a clean cloth if still bleeding
Ice wrapped in cloth to reduce swelling
Keep him calm

Keep him calm - mouth injuries look far worse than they often are because of how much they bleed and swell

Worth asking daycare:

• Exactly what happened (fall onto what surface/object)
• Whether they gave first aid and when
• Why the call came after the fact rather than more urgently, given how it looks

Lip injuries in kids usually heal really well even when they look dramatic - but this one looks like it’s at least worth a same-day medical opinion rather than watchful waiting at home.

You were probably given an incident report, right? He’ll have to go to hospital so the daycare will have to report it to the department of education as a serious incident. I’d: 1. read the report thoroughly. 2. Ask the educators/director what happened. 3. Keep written communication about the medical care he is receiving and 4. Ask what actions will they take if it happens again.

It all depends on what they say/documented it happened. What did they say?

That looks like it needs stitches. I hope they asked you to come pick him up right away. I'd go to emergency as normal GP and urgent care won't treat this. I'd be enquiring more about what happened at daycare too.

Get that baby into emergency, some cases with lip injuries do require a plastic surgeon.
If you’re left out of pocket for any surgical expenses, please claim that back through the childcare. I ended up paying around $4,000 for surgery following a fall at childcare and emailed the childcare requesting they send me the steps to claim through their insurance. I hope you’re doing ok mumma 🥺🤍

I work in childcare and would definitely have called and said is a significant wound and looks like it needs stitches. I would tell the parent he needs to go to urgent care and to please collect asap.
There needs to be an incident report completed also.

Holy fk! Thats bad
Have you rang/ emailed / called
What was there response...
They will try and turn it around on you though
My son fell we picked him up to find a bump on his head
* HE DID NOT have that when we dropped him off that morning the woman said some bullshit exuse and I said " no,no he did not have that last night ( night before) or this morning
She just looked at me i wanted to slap her
Go get him checked out by your gp
Then id call and demand an explanation coz fk man they have a duty of care and that's disgusting

I think i know the answer im just not sure how to do it without causing a scene

So my daughter sees a speech therapist and she told me today about something that was said to one of the parents in the play group thats hosted by the therapy group. There was a little boy with cerebral palsy the very first day. The last 2 times I noticed he wasn't there. Well I found out that apparently someone told the mom the play group wasn't for special needs kids..... excuse the fuck out of me??? Wtf? Her speech therapist told me that it's not hard to accommodate for the little boy and that thats why he hasnt been there since. I am absolutely livid right now. I want to say something to the person hosting the play group but im afraid I might go off on her. So im thinking of having my husband say something. The last 2 play groups he could have easily participated in. My only issue is will me saying something possibly cause a problem for the mom? I asked my daughters speech therapist if it might be possible to give the mom my number that way we can get our kids together to play.

So the main question this pole is here for is... should i say something?

Another question but comment your answer please.. should I get the ada involved?

I know this seems stupid, I just dont want to cause any hardships for the mom.

Tortilla pizza

This is only a portion of my daughter’s lunch from earlier. She was asking me for “pizza please” 😂😭 and I didn’t feel like making pizza dough or buying pizza, so I used a regular tortilla and some leftover pizza sauce I had from last week and made her a little tortilla pizza. Honestly, it worked out perfectly lol and she DEVOURED it so this was such a win

Anyone else's husband always look busy but doesn't seem to be actually helping?

Like I appreciate he may be doing jobs that are on his todo list in his mind, but nothing that is actually helpful in the moment. It seems like he can't prioritise.

For example we have a 5 month old baby and a 3 year old. Our 3 year old goes to nursery in the mornings. My husband is off work atm, I'm a SAHM, so we are both around.
This morning, I wake up at 6:30 with baby, take her downstairs so she doesn't wake everyone, feed her, change her, dress her. At around 7:00 I make my 3yos breakfast so it's ready for him when he comes downstairs. He wakes around 7:15 so I go get him and bring him down. My husband also comes downstairs at this point.

I help my son with his breakfast, baby is in her swing for now.

I make up my sons bag for nursery, fill his water bottle, I clean and put baby's bottles in the Steriliser, I dress 3yo, I take him upstairs to use the toilet, brush his teeth and wash his face, I style his hair.
I then come back downstairs and immediately smell that baby has pooped, so I say to my husband can you not smell that? He says no. I change babies nappy again.
I tell my son to go get his shoes on, I get the pram unfolded for baby. My husband finally appears to help 3yo with his shoes and jacket, puts his own shoes on and then just stands around. I put baby in her pram etc, we all get outside to leave just on time and then my husband is like oh I need to pee 🤦🏻‍♀️ What was he doing all morning? The recycling was sitting on the kitchen ledge, he didn't take that out. He didn't put the breakfast dishes in the dishwasher, I don't actually know what he was doing? Like he just sort of faffs?? Makes cereal for himself and looks at stuff and just sort of *exists*.
Yes I can ask him for help, and sometimes he will help more without asking, but it makes me so annoyed to have to ask in the first place. I'm already busy managing our morning so we aren't late, we both have the same responsibilities, we both know what needs done, idk why I need to be the family manager.

Graveyard?

Does anyone have a partner that works graveyard?
Do they still show up to help with the kid(s)? Like hangout with them. Help put them to bed. Helps brush teeth.

Or do they not because they’re tired and need to get ready for work?
