Anyone else experienced this with second-degree tear stitches?

Hi mamas, I had a normal vaginal delivery on 24th August and had a second-degree perineal tear with stitches.

I’m now 8 days postpartum. A few days ago I was having quite a lot of pain around the stitches and burning around/inside my anus, so I saw my midwife. She said it might be an infection and prescribed antibiotics for 7 days.

Since yesterday, the stitch pain has actually improved a lot, which is reassuring. But this evening I noticed some fresh bright-red blood coming from the stitch area. I’m worried that the stitches might have opened or that something is wrong with the healing.

Has anyone else had something similar around day 8 after a second-degree tear? Did you have some fresh bleeding while the area was healing? How did it turn out?

I’m planning to speak to my midwife again, but I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has experienced something similar. ❤️

Totally normal! I’m currently 2 weeks PP and had an episiotomy as well as a 1st and 2nd degree tear from a forceps delivery - long story short I’m still being seen but was told internally takes longer to heal than external and I only stopped bleeding a couple of days ago from that - I’ve been told that I won’t be fully healed for up to another 4 weeks so give your body time and you’ll be fine ☺️ any concerns with smell or seeping do get it checked out but bleeding generally completely normal!!

Am I the asshole for being nervous/ paranoid when my mother in law has my baby even when she’s just near him?

Hear me out, when I was pregnant she would always make jokes in the beginning and during my pregnancy. Saying, “oh this is our baby” and at first the way she would put it was funny but after a while it seemed possessive. So anytime she’s near him my skin crawls and when she’s holding him I can’t have a conversation with anyone because I’m so fixated on him making sure he’s okay. I don’t know, it’s probably PPA kicking my butt. Also I’ve stated multiple times he doesn’t need to be infront of a phone or tv because he’s 3 months old. Talk to him, play with him, yk. In return in a passive aggressive way I’ve been told that I’m wrong or “unfair because mummy gets to”.

I don’t know let me know y’all’s thoughts/ opinions or advice

Formula flasks

I’m new to formula feeding I make bottles up at home but when out & about I use pre made bottles.
I want to be able to make formula bottles when out so I’ve bought the Nuby rapid cool and thermal flask. But the capacity of the flask is only enough for 1 feed without refilling it.

Where can I get a larger flask that keeps water above 70 degrees? I’ve searched online but they’re all up to 50 degrees.

Thank you in advance! X

Personal one: did your sex life improve after having a baby??

I struggled with my body image during pregnancy so we stopped having sex pretty early into the first trimester. I had an elective C-section and at 7 weeks I felt ready to have sex again.

I am not sure if I just don't remember how sex was before but sex felt amazing. We have been having sex more frequently than we did before the pregnancy and I am enjoying it so much.

Did sex change for anyone else ?

C section Mumma’s

How long after your c section did you get feeling back in your lower tummy? I’m 8 weeks pp still completely numb and scar is still quite sore and occasionally the pain gets stronger on the inside. Is this normal? Im concerned Im not healing as well as I hoped because it’s quite uncomfortable. Also periods, when did everyone’s come back? I still haven’t had mine but was bleeding for 6 weeks after the section.

Sleep training

Are there any mums who didn’t actively sleep train your little ones? What is there sleep like now?

My LO is 4 months and I typically rock her to sleep. She hasn’t yet learnt to connect her sleep cycles, but she’s been waking up every 45 minutes for many many weeks now, unless she’s sleeping next to me - and then she can have longer stretches of sleep.

Wondering if actively sleep training is worth it?
