Let's be so real... how's everyone finding maternity leave?

Someone asked me, "Are you enjoying your maternity leave?" As in going out, doing things, making the most of it.

Honestly? I haven't been out much at all. I've mostly been at home with my baby, and it definitely hasn't been easy. There have been hard days. My mum comes over and cooks for me sometimes, which I'm so grateful for.

But if you asked whether I'm enjoying maternity leave, I'd actually say yes. I'm genuinely enjoying the slower pace, being at home with my baby, and not feeling like I have to be out all the time. It's not glamorous, and it's not always easy, but these quiet days mean a lot to me.

How's everyone else enjoying their maternity leave? Are you out and about, or are you embracing the slow days at home too?

8months PP and fully enjoying being on maternity leave. Definitely not glamorous is it though haha.

Been luck enough to have been able to extend my leave so not going back till mid November and already dreading go back. Not because of work but because I absolutely love being with my little boy 🥰

I am 10 months pp, and I think beforehand I envisioned being out a lot with my baby, going for days out, coffees etc. instead it’s been a much slower pace, most days home, but going out for a couple of hours maybe 2-3x a week to our local children’s centre which is probs the most activity I do tbh 😂 but I’ve still really enjoyed my mat leave, it’s not glamorous - I feel like you envision all this time off doing stuff but time off as a mum is very different time off to pre mum days 😂 but I love it, and love being with my girlie and would happily not go back to work

I feel the same, however, I wish I could join some baby groups to get out of the house more.. I haven’t found any that are free.

6W6D no heartbeat with a haemorrhage

After the worst week of my life, we went for a rescan yesterday… haemorrhage in the sac, baby has grown from 3.3 to 4.2 in 4 days. Measured me at 6 weeks and 6 days but no heartbeat was seen. I have another scan on the 7th… is there a possibility baby will be okay and heartbeat will be seen? This next week is going to be hell😭

Bloody show

Had a sweep yesterday and think I might have passed my bloody show today . Am I meant to call triage or not? I did ask them yday and they didn’t seem very bothered about that but I also didn’t feel she gave a direct answer

Mum guilt 😭

I was due to go for an ECV today, but the hospital called today to reschedule for Thursday due to lack of available consultants

I completely understand why the hospital has rescheduled, and am not at all annoyed with them

But, my new appointment means I won’t be able to pick up my little boy on his first day of nursery 😭 as if the mum guilt wasn’t already so bad with me being exhausted and a new baby coming!! 😭

Stretch and sweep

I had my first stretch and sweep in this pregnancy as I’m exactly 40 weeks today! I was told I’m 1-2cm dilated but my cervix is still a bit high/thickened.
I’m hoping as this is my second pregnancy the membrane sweep will work but did anyone else experience this and did they go into labour?

Incomplete Scan

I’m 22 weeks pregnant and I’ve just got home from my second ‘20 week scan’. It will be marked as incomplete because, due to baby’s position, they couldn’t see the right side of the heart. All other checks were completely normal.

I won’t be offered another scan or be referred to foetal medicine. Has this happened to anyone else?

I really wanted some closure but I’m also pleased that everything they did see was fine.
