My 2.5 year old has suddenly started seeing monsters, everywhere, it started in the bedroom at night, still happens with a Nightlight and she still cosleeps so dont think its an attention thing to get us to stay with her as one of us already does. Then it started happening in the bedroom during the day, then the rest of the house, now out the window of the car when driving, and yesterday when we were in asda. She doesnt seem particularly distressed but it, with the exception of once when she walking into the kitchen and kind of yelpt in suprise then came and told me there was a monster in the kitchen. Im unsure what the correct action for me to take is, i know not to invalidate what she's "seeing", do i ask about the monsters, do i tell the monsters to go away? I dont really want her reliant on "monsters spray.

I've never heard of not invalidating monsters. They don't exist. Not in that form anyway. Has she watched something scary recently? Seems unusual for 2. I could be wrong though! It's been a while.
Maybe she needs white noise and it's about the stillness

I think its more about not invalidating how she's feeling when she's seeing "monsters" she's not watched anything or read anything scary, no changes to routine apart from a new sibling 7 months ago. The only monster mentioning thing she has been exposed to is the thats not my monster book. She has red light and a sound machine at night, has done since birth. Also doesn't go to nursery so not picked it up from other kids and isn't babysat by anyone. Im genuinely baffled as to where she's got it from and figured it would probably be a phase that stopped but she's doing it more, shes even drawn a big pink sqwiggle and told me its a monster.

Its probably her imagination starting.
However, you should 'invalidate' the monsters... monsters arent real and you should tell her that. Tell her sometimes our brains see things and tell stories that aren't really there, its called an imagination, but it doesnt mean the things we imagine are real.

My son went through this phrase probably a similar age maybe closer to 3 years. From what i was told and from what has played out with my son it is just a part of their imagination growing. My son mostly wasnt distressed either but he would sometimes say he was nervous for bed time because of monsters. I just started explaining that monsters weren't real, they are just a part of pretend play. Now when he says there is a monster and I say dont worry monsters arent real and cant hurt you he says 'no, silly, its pretend' and then I end up having to act out a whole monster scene with him where the monster turns out to be friendly and just want to give hugs 😅 i think for my son he got it from the tv show 'love monster' which we would occasionally watch together because it has some nice messages in it
My father passed away when I was a child. We used his name as our son’s middle name as a way for him to be connected to baby. My mum was very happy with this and so were me and my partner. I will say that my father’s name isn’t particularly a name I would’ve chosen otherwise as it’s not to our taste but won us over sentimentally.
My FIL openly asked me and my husband the other day if we will be using his name as our second son’s middle name. We had no intention of doing this and have already chosen another middle name. The middle name we have chosen is actually my husbands and FILs middle name (they have the same). We thought this was a way to connect both my husband and FIL to baby boy no2. My FIL seemed annoyed and said “is my name not good enough?”.
I have no idea how to approach this subject anymore, especially when my in laws keeps asking if I have finalised a name and seem to be off in tone when discussing a name.
For reference, my husband is their only child and thus these are their only grandchildren.
Thanks for any help with this situation! I don’t want to upset anyone but also want our decisions to be respected.

Any tips/tricks on how to get my baby to like playing/eating more textured food & solids? She’s 9 months and doesn’t seem interested in it every time I give it to her 😭

Baked beans with toast, grated cheese with a side of grapes and blackberries 💜
Definitely a bigger portion but the boy does love beans on toast!

This advice is for a friend not me..
my husband is best friends with hers and he says he thinks she’s just making him seem crazy that it doesn’t sound like him at all. I have TONS more messages from this day.. idk what to even tell her anymore..

I swear I’ve deep cleaned every room in this house like 3 times now thinking it will be the last time before baby arrives/to help induce labour and nothing! Now it’s a tip and needs doing AGAIN! 🤦🏻♀️😂

We both saw this coming for a while, we just are on different pages and different priorities. We love each other and have no hard feelings and want the best for our daughter (3). There was no abuse, just lack of effort and unmet expectations that were communicated. I feel like I keep trying to villianize him and make a list in my head of what he did (or didn't do) to make it make sense on paper. I understand I'm not innocent either, I've held a lot of resentment since we had a child and felt like he didn't step up and I had to take on most of everything (as I know a lot of women feel). With all said and done, it's still hard to go through and it's so lonely. He was the reason I looked forward to the future and at one point felt like my person. I don't have much support system or family and he does. I'm mainly just venting but has anyone else gone through this? I feel like people will judge that "oh if it wasn't abusive or there was no cheating, there's no reason to not work it out". I know it's for the best to separate. I don't like the version of me that has grown and is out around him and living with him. I feel like I failed my daughter and she is going to grow up and resent me for not trying harder. It's going to be so tough for her to get used to us not living together and not seeing both her parents everyday anymore.
Thoughts, advice?
