Using family names, dilemma!

My father passed away when I was a child. We used his name as our son’s middle name as a way for him to be connected to baby. My mum was very happy with this and so were me and my partner. I will say that my father’s name isn’t particularly a name I would’ve chosen otherwise as it’s not to our taste but won us over sentimentally.

My FIL openly asked me and my husband the other day if we will be using his name as our second son’s middle name. We had no intention of doing this and have already chosen another middle name. The middle name we have chosen is actually my husbands and FILs middle name (they have the same). We thought this was a way to connect both my husband and FIL to baby boy no2. My FIL seemed annoyed and said “is my name not good enough?”.

I have no idea how to approach this subject anymore, especially when my in laws keeps asking if I have finalised a name and seem to be off in tone when discussing a name.

For reference, my husband is their only child and thus these are their only grandchildren.

Thanks for any help with this situation! I don’t want to upset anyone but also want our decisions to be respected.

Sorry to hear that you're in this position.
It's no one else's decision when it comes to names other than the child's parents.
I think it's a nice idea to use a middle name that they both share. My dad and partners dad have the same name, we always said we'd use that as a middle name if we had a boy, we're having a girl but don't plan on using either of our mothers names, it's babies parents choice at the end of the day.

I've no advice but understand how you're feeling when it comes to issues over names 🙄 my MIL recently made some nasty comments about the name we're thinking of using, and when confronted about it by my partner instead of owning her mistake she blocked us and we haven't had contact since, I'm almost 38 weeks pregnant and there's still no signs of getting it sorted with her

Husband should be handling this, he's their child. He just says we're continuing the family tradition of keeping the same middle name, we don't need to go into the reasons why we named X "X" do we?

I just have 1 middle name. My siblings have loads. I always thought it was super important to give my kids loads of middle names 🤣 they all have intertwined names of their grand parents. My 1st has her nans 2nd name, but when i had my second, my mothe rin law passed away just before she was born and i thought that it was suoer important to add her first name as my daughter's middle name. She was a remarkable women. My girls have both male and female middle names of their grand parents. my baby on the way will have the names of the great grand parents. That way everyone feels connected, especially if myself or my partner has had a great relationship with our grands. Do tell them that its whats you've picked and would like it to remain that way. They will get over it.

Saw someone say here that the kids get the fathers sir name so the mum can choose the first name ! 😅 atleast he is getting your FIL middle name and sir name ! I think they’re being very petty you and hubby can definitely choose whatever name you want for YOUR child it has nothing to do with grandparents

Friends child

My best friend has a 5 year old and my daughter is 16 months old. My best friend is amazing with my daughter, and my daughter LOVES her so much. The problem I’m having is her son has a lot of behaviours, she’s in the process of trying to get help with him as they think he might be on the spectrum in some capacity. Her son loves my daughter and she loves him too. The issue is he is VERY aggressive, if he sees his mom giving any attention to my daughter then he’s throwing toys at her, pushing her over, going out of his way to hurt her and when we try to correct it he just laughs at us and gets worse and worse. I am not sure what to do. When he’s in a good mood they play so nicely but then something just switches and he will just terrorize her. I don’t know if we should keep having play dates but they love each other so much. I’m struggling. Has anyone had a similar situation and have any advice?

Housework

Does anyone find time to keep a clean & tidy house? Atm I just find time to keep the kitchen clean where baby's bottles are made and make sure he has clean clothes, my partner doesn't clean and it's been a bone of contention since we started living together he just says "it's tidy enough it's fine", I don't want to push the issue too much because he has helped a lotcwith the baby and me emotionally whilst I've struggled with ppd and I don't think I could bear the tension at home. Is anyone's home a palace with a newborn and it's just me 😂, I must add that he does do all the cooking tho, it's just annoying because when he has the baby I'm just catching up on chores and not relaxing or resting like I would want to.

Attention anti-screen time moms. How do we feel about nature channels?

Mostly On days where you can’t do anything outside without a heat stroke.

Question

So I recently became a SAHM and I'm just curious how things are divided in yalls household. I'm primary caregiver, make the food and clean the home. Husband just works and comes home. We recently had a almost 10 week old. And occasionally he will help with bath time and take her for a few mins of the day. But I physically don't get a break. Unless baby is sleeping and usually I have other things to do at that point. I deserve a break too. My husband takes mental breaks out of his work and even gets some hours completely to his self. I refuse to just accept that this is how it is.

17 and thinks she is grown

So today was my children’s first day back to school. My daughter who is 17 was telling me about the new rules at school in regards to cell phones. I told her I’ll call the school and give them a piece of my mind. Then she proceeded to call me in a nasty way a “fucking phyco”I calmly told her that she is being very disrespectful and I don’t appreciate it. Told my husband of 15 years what she said and he asked me if I was his child I said no then he said he is tired of being the referee between her and I. It’s only the first day of school and this is how we’re starting off. I’m so frustrated.
