Dummies (combi fed baby)

My 10w baby is mainly breast fed with 2 formula feeds a day and just won't take a dummy, my instant reaction was yay! But she won't soothe unless she's on me. I'm trying to wean off breastfeeding and more to formula but it's hard when she refuses to soothe otherwise
My mum had a nightmare with her today. She's just about finding her thumb but I don't want to encourage that really.

I'm a single mama so it's important she can soothe with my mum when upset otherwise I'm never going to catch a break.

We've tried loads of brands
Mam, tommee tippee, bibz, nuk

She was terrible finding a bottle she would take and had to try different bottle types, eventually she took the nuk bottles

Feel like I've created a monster by breastfeeding 🤣

Anyone got similar experience or advice?

Hey! Definitely a common experience, I felt really trapped because my little girl wouldn’t settle for my partner even! She still doesn’t really take a dummy bit around 11/12 weeks she became more easy going, would chill out and fall asleep from being rocked in the pram or be rocked to sleep by me instead of having to always be feeding her off. It felt much easier from there and if you’re swaying more towards formula I guess this will happen even more so for you with a couple more weeks time?? Good luck!

My son's formula fed but he wouldn't take a dummy to start with..I was a bit naive and just assumed he would take the same shape dummy to his bottle (mam) as my eldest did the same with his tommee tippee bottles but he wouldn't.
I switched to the tommee tippee stay put ultra light dummies and for whatever reason he took them!
He had/has silent reflux so needed a dummy for soothing instead of feeding which was making his symptoms worse.
Top trick is to put the dummy in their mouth (with a little bit of pressure)and hold it in there for a few seconds for them to register that it's there and start sucking.

Second the ultra light stay put x

Chickenpox at nursery

The nursery has contacted on my sons second day at nursery to say that a baby has chickenpox. This baby was in the same room as my child.

Is there a high chance of him getting it? The baby was removed within 3-4, hours.
I havent had chickenpox myself so I am a bit worried hence me asking.
Are there any steps I can take?

Post partum sex

VAGINAL BIRTHS, NO STITCHES OR COMPLICATIONS -

How long did everyone wait until they had sex? I usually hate these posts now I’m finding myself asking the same question hahahaha. The sexual tension we both have is unreal, we’ve not slept together since 2nd May😮‍💨 i usually have more self discipline than this! Baby was born 10th August so I’m 3 weeks and 2 days, not much blood is on my pads anymore however it’s there when I wipe. We almost tried the other night but I chickened out in case it hurt 😢

How did you encourage your LO to take their first steps?

My LG is 11 months (1 year in 3 weeks) and she is ALWAYS wanting to walk holding my hands. She does it really well and is barely putting any weight on my hands any more and she cruises confidently!

I've been trying to encourage her to take an independent step but every time I do, she crawls to me instead.

Any tips would be great!

Toddler toothpaste

My son is 2 and we use the Orajel toothpaste non fluoride. His teeth have gaps and I’m already scarred by that so I want to make sure he’s getting good oral care. What toothpaste and toothbrushes do you guys use. Rn he likes to brush his teeth ( let’s me do it) because he likes to eat the toothpaste 😅 but any advice and he has a dentist appointment coming up too so hopefully all goes well.

How many bottles do you have?

Typically how many bottles do you have? I know it depends on how often you wash them etc. We have 4 at the moment but looking at buying a couple more to avoid washing as often.

Husband mentioned being celibate

My husband is on a bit of a self-improvement/discovery journey and mentioned yesterday about the idea of being celibate for a while to see if it improves his mental state focus on other things. He said that he is curious around how if would affect him. How would you feel?
