Advice on circumcision! Please no hateful comments.

Me and my partner are due our little boy anytime. When we found out we were having a boy he did say that he wanted him to be circumcised. I’m white British and he is black british - Nigerian. I asked him what his reasoning was and he said because he was and I explained that because it’s something completely new to me that he would need to do some research and come back to me etc. I spoke with his mum and friends who have had their little boys done in regards to this and did do my own research too in the meantime. It was never a complete no for me and completely respect his background and culture and open to discussing all options, however it was something that I felt controversial on due to being a first time mum and being worried if something did go wrong.
Since, nothing has been mentioned, apart from a conversation about 8 weeks ago where he said to just leave it, I said to him I’m not saying no, I just need more of an understanding and for his reasoning for it doing to be valid too and that we’d look into it together. I’m 37 weeks today and no further conversation has been had, I’m wondering whether to still mention it, or just leave it as if it was something he was so adamant on wanting then for me he would have gone and done the research as I know they say it’s best to do it once baby is newborn. Any advice on where to go from here as I’m slightly anxious I’m going to end up being the blame for it not being done and I know his mum was quite pushy for it too. I just don’t want it to come across like I was a straight no and was being disrespectful to their culture, it was more I wanted him to fully understand the process of it too and as a parent you need to go and research these things beforehand.

My brother is year younger than me and yet i remember as a baby his was botched. I have a son and I wouldn’t do it to him.

I understand its culture but it is essentially removing a very sensitive part of ur privates as a baby. The healing process is very hard on them too. The reason his culture does it is similar to mine. It is seen as hygienic but in the 21st century we know better . There is no benefit to it as obviously he can learn to clean it when he’s older. It is purely cultural and that does not always mean it’s right. If my son chose to do it when he’s older that’s his choice but to hurt him on purpose for some archaic logic pushed by culture is wrong. In my culture it’s also seen as normal to cut female children’s genitals too. Culture does not always mean it’s right.

Let him choose what happens to his own privates when he’s older.

Absolutely no need to circumcise at all.

I have numerous friends, who are circumcised and it was due to cultural reasons, but they performed a ceremony thing etc like a celebration almost I can’t exactly remember this was years ago and my nickname is really Dory as in Dory from Finding nemo lol 😂
But I mean like you said if it was that important to him he would have done the research discussed it with you etc and he hasn’t so he can’t be that worried !

no definitely not, there is no medical reason for this and it can cause potential problems in the future. x

You don’t have to do it to a newborn and ur baby ain’t even born yet. Give yourself some time imo it’s not an immediate matter. My son is circumcised for religious reasons, it was hard on me going with the process we did it when he was 1.5 yrs. he’s now 3 yrs old and just fine but I fully empathise it’s not an easy decision

Look I did some deep research into this.

Basically US studies show there’s benefits to circumcising. “Can lower HIV and sti, UTI risks and lower rates of penile cancer” however there isn’t enough benefits for them to make it a mandatory procedure for all males. Where places like Australia, UK, most of Europe and New Zealand routine circumcision is NOT recommended. Australia doesn’t offer it as a standard option in public hospitals unless it is medically needed.

If done, it’s also worth noting that scaring can leave behind phantom pains. I still have phantom pains 5 years later after my first child caused me to rip. An infant cannot tell you that their scaring is hurting. Infants also have many healthy spontaneous erections that help oxygenate the tissue and promotes normal development. a foreskin is highly elastic and designed to glide and stretch with these erections. Having a non-elastic ring of scar tissue right at the start of development will change how the tissue behaves.

Period … am I obligated to give my man oral?

My period is on, and I’m feeling like awful.
And my bf, isn’t too happy . Why? Because I can’t have sex.
He wants oral .. but I’m hurting.
And his next move ? To be pouting man about it. And he told me “you are obligated to give oral when you’re bleeding.”

Am I an asshole for this??

So my daughter was playing on an indoor play ground with mostly children her age in there, about 2-3 kids that were a bit older than her. A little boy about 3-4 was rough housing around all the younger children, my daughter isn’t used to rough housing from other children. Even if she was.. he was being more nasty than rough housing with the younger kids, like my daughter.

Anyways my daughter and the little boy get into the same area that has a seat and my daughter is trying to play with a steering wheel in front of her and the little boy gets between her and the steering wheel, trying to force himself so he could play with it. There was another one right next to it.. and so he does that and my daughter gets slightly pushed back, there’s a seat in that area so she’s resting her arm on it and he purposely sits on her arm and doesn’t get up.. I was watching the whole thing from across the room (bitting literally every part on my being to calm down..) he wasn’t getting up and he just had a nasty attitude, like bouncing… so I get up and rush over. Telling him “please don’t sit on her” he’s looking up at me like he’s sad!!! I feel bad but my daughters feelings come first and I wasn’t being mean to him, just trying to set a boundary for my daughters feelings because she doesn’t talk much or express herself. I picked her up after and told her not to go near him anymore.

After my husband said I seemed mad walking up to the incident and that the dad near him look at him like “oh boy….”

So idk how it came across to others but I was trying to protect my child from what I seen as a little bit of a bully… hoping it was just a really rambunctious boy but idk..

Before that he accidentally punch a little girl smaller than my daughter down on the ground and I didn’t want something similar happening to my daughter.

Sorry venting/ranting and also want others thoughts on it too

Yesterday was horrible

So yesterday really tested me because come to afternoon my daughter would not go down to nap and when I did get her down and put her in her cot about five to ten minutes later she would wake up crying, I couldn't settle her at all, rock in my arms meant pinching and jerking her arms about, screaming till red in the face, put her in the cot to calm down the both of us, she cried like never before, gave her a bottle around half seven, fought her to sleep as she would not go in the moses basket, her bouncy chair or her play mat, ate my dinner cold and crying. So I took upstairs after an hour, she went for it then, so I took her temperature they say on the NHS website it's under the arms so it came back with a temperature I wasn't sure what to do, I just wanted to give her Calpol and get to bed, 111 did us an out of hour apparently and apparently she's either got the start of a bug, cutting her first tooth or having a off day, so yeah now I feel like I overreacted. Had my neighbour over helping and I am now sat here feeling like an idiot

Park bullies.

So my son is 2, he will be three at the end of this month he looks older than he is he is taller than most his age yes. With this being said he has been home with me and I do take him to the park daily , my son honestly always wants to play with everybody he’s the sweetest kid ever seriously. But there are days when there’s a kid or two he comes into contact with who are just mean and they do tend to be older or maybe the same age. Mean as in taking away a rock he found literally grabbing it out of his hands running away and throws it in a bush so he can’t find it … the occasional shove or push that leads to me intervening because wtf are u doing … all this gives me anxiety with taking him to the park or even knowing if we go it may happen. I’m laying in bed with all these thoughts and my heart hurts for him because he simply is too young to understand let alone defend himself. Another example this little girl she was younger she pushed him cause she wanted the swing but the difference is mom was right there saw and apologized immediately.. he did cry and I did comfort him and console him also letting him know she’s younger and doesn’t know any better she is still learning. I told him to not let anyone hit him because it isn’t ok. But again my heart just hurts for him. He’s so innocent and pure and some of these kids are straight up bullies it’s disgusting and disturbing… Am I the only one who feels this way nd do you have any kind of tips on this ?

How do you manage to get chores done while having a 7month old?

I’m with my baby 24/7 and sometimes I have a hard time fitting in chores while my bf is as work. Our daughter is very active and attached. If I put her in walker while I do dishes , within 5-10mins she will want to be out. Her naps have gotten shorter as well and sometimes I will nap with her cuz I’m exhausted.

My bf worked n then went to the gym. I offered to order dinner but he said he’d cook.. now he’s home and seen the dishes aren’t done so now he doesn’t want to cook and shook his head at me. Now I feel crappy cuz I’m over thinking what hes probably saying about me to himself..

Wearing her will be difficult w my back pain and she’s heavy af 😂 so any advice or tips is needed ! Please and thank you
