tearful baby

my little one is seven weeks now and used to be so content but now is crying really nonstop whenever she's not asleep. we put her in her bouncer and she's fine as long as she's being actively bounced or she's feeding or asleep but every other time she's crying. we keep being told to start showing her more things or talking to her or doing tummy time but I literally don't know how when she's only crying constantly and never engaged enough for these things. has anyone else experienced this? it's not the crying on principle that's the problem, we're lucky that we even have things that can settle her, though obviously it always breaks your heart to see them cry. but more than that I just feel like I'm failing her because I can't settle her enough to be able to do these things that are apparently so important for her growth and strength and development. our health visitor asked us about her smiling and babbling at our six week appointment, neither of which she's doing, and I just feel like we're letting her down and she's slipping behind...

The fact you are worrying means you are being a great parent . It may be something less obvious. My baby boy did this around 6 weeks and after a few days it became apparent I wasn’t winding him enough . I would get the burp out after a feed and then think he was ok ,
Occasionally doing bicycle legs for his bowels , but he was so teary all the time and i couldn’t work out why / I decided to try some tummy massage I used to do with my first born and wow …… it was wild . Now we make the effort to wind both ends , ALOT throughout the day , more than I ever had to with my first born , and he’s much happier again .
Just a thought xx

My LO is 7.5 weeks and getting fussy with feedings but I was told to expect it as 8 weeks is their first major developmental leap and they can cry more than usual so it could be that and may settle in a few days

You’re not letting her down at all, every baby develops at their own pace so please don’t worry just yet that she’s not smiling or babbling she may just be taking a little longer and that’s totally normal! Babies go through peak fussiness between week 6-8 so it could very well be that especially if you are able to calm her and she’s not absolutely inconsolable! You’ve got this and you’re doing a great job xx

Long periods of sitting

Help please! I know you can't lie flat on your back but are you allowed to sit propped up in bed leaning back for long periods?

I am so tired this pregnancy I can't sit straight up for very long before I flop back

I need some toddler appropriate consequences for not listening/following instructions

To add to this is it a good idea to reward toddlers for doing what is expected of them ie brushing teeth, eating all their food etc? And at what point do you stop this as I don’t want my child to expect rewards as she gets older for doing things she’s supposed to.

Burping

How long are people burping their breastfed babies for and is this during a feed or just after? We think our little one might have quite a bit of trapped gas, he does a burp 80% of the time that we burp him but unsure if we should just continue until he does multiple?

Have you ever embarrassed yourself in front of others that you can’t forget ?

I tripped in a silent scene during a showing of a movie at a theater coming back from getting more popcorn and I dropped all the popcorn everywhere. I heard people laughing and I don’t blame them. People asked me if I was okay after too.
