Hey! I am nearly 28 weeks pregnant with my first and haven't decided if we'll set up babies room before she arrives or when she's here?
I would love advice from people who have been there.
My thoughts are why set up a room and lose a guest room if she wont use that room for at least 6 months?
But my other thoughts are...
1. Will it be harder to paint and build furniture with a baby?
2. Will the house feel more organised/newborn life be easier if all her bits have a place in her room rather than scattered?
What did you do? and would you do it differently now you've lived it?
TIA x

We have done everything completely- including nursery, travel system, clothes, everything…. I’m nearly 18 weeks 😂🥲

I don't even have a room to set up for the baby I'm currently pregnant with 😩 but with my first he didn't go into his room until he was about 3 years old so only then did i decorate/set it up

We are setting the room up before because that's where all the babies clothes etc will go. Basically babies store room rather than a bedroom for a while

I think its whatever will suit you. We decorated the nursery before LO was here as I didn't want paint fumes or dust around a new born but she's now 5 months and hasn't spent more than an hour in there as she's still in our room. Its great for having somewhere for all her stuff and getting her used to the room before she moves in (trying to make it a fun happy place fore her). Maybe decorate the room before baby but keep the bed in there for guests until baby is old enough to use the room. That way its a win win 😉

My partner painted the room at 30 weeks, built her wardrobe and chest of drawers last week at 34 weeks, then built her next to me cot, pram system, and installed her car seat yesterday at 35+3.
I'm now washing all of the clothes, muslins, and anything fabric and putting them away this week along with prepping our hospital bags. All I have left is for bottles to steralise which my mum will come do when I go to hospital in labour.

I’m 34 weeks now with my first and we had this same dilemma!
I had the addition of the sooner it is the babies room the sooner it stops being my work office / our guest room and I am working until week 38.
We made the decision to paint, set up wardrobe, drawers and cot and keep my desk in the corner until week 36 as there is enough room.
This meant we could start getting ahead with washing / storing clothes, nappies, bedding. And we currently use the cot with the front removed as a large easy to reach bench for me to sort from so I’m not bending over / up and down off the floor.

I did it around 26 weeks pregnant - currently 38. I found it useful to have all her clothes/bits and bobs in one place rather than all over the house, obviously she’ll be in the next 2 me for the first 6 months but it’s good to have a designated space x

We did it before, again nicer to have everything together and organised but also had a rocking chair so we used it for night feeds so the other could still sleep!

We didn't properly set up until baby was probably 3 months or so, we needed to move a bed and desk and stuff before setting up the cot, so we just had clothes in a chest of drawers in a room.

It's whatever works for you, I painted and set up the big stuff in the nursery at 20weeks because it was Christmas and I had annual leave. Figured it was beat to do it then as I was going to save 2026 annual leave for after mat. Its come in handy having the nursery as a base for clothes and all things baby, plus its nice to spend time in there for tummy time etc 😊

I was 37 weeks when we decorated and did his room x
I’m curious about real life experiences rather than just the official recommendations! How old was your baby when you first let them watch something, and how much did you allow?
Any regrets about starting too early or wishing you’d started sooner? Has anyone noticed anything surprising, either positive or negative, that went against what you’d been told about screen time?
No judgement at all, just genuinely curious about everyone’s experiences! ❤️

I’m wanting to buy a momcozy breast pump which is £160 on Amazon. Are there any other trustworthy sites that anyone was able to purchase them from for a little bit cheaper? Just thought I’d ask before buying them off Amazon. Thank you! 😊

I love my daughter more than anything. I would do absolutely anything for her, and I know this is just a hard day… but fuck, I hate this.
I just cannot get a minute to myself.
The ONLY time she stops crying is when she’s breastfeeding. Half the time she’s not even feeding - she’s just using me as a pacifier. Ironically, she won’t actually take a pacifier. Formula gives her the shits and makes her belly grumble, so I can’t even have someone else take over a feed and give me a break.
My partner is at work. “Why don’t you ask your mum to come over and help?”
Help how? She won’t stop crying for her. I don’t need someone to do my washing or make me a cup of tea. I just want to be able to put a dummy in her mouth or put her down in her bed and have ten fcking minutes where nobody needs me.
I miss having adult conversations. I miss seeing my friends. I miss doing my skincare. I miss being able to brush my teeth without thinking, “I need to get to sleep RIGHT NOW before she wakes up again.”
I miss having a moment where my body and my time feel like they belong to me.
I love her so, so much. I know this stage won’t last forever. I know there will be easier days.
But today is fucking hard.
I’ve never felt so broken

LO is turning 2 and has got out her sleeping sack every night for 4 weeks. We have bought a 120cmx100cm breathable duvet. The cot is 120x60cm
Would anyone implement this with 40cm extra duvet width with cot sides up? She isnt ready for sides to be down yet

So I’ve been friends with this girl for more than 10 years. Long story short she never asked how I was during pregnancy not even a message, despite me organising a meet up to tell her. She also didn’t come to my baby shower as she had food poisoning. She did congratulate me when I announced the birth but after that no message to say how I am or when she can see the baby. Because I felt upset I messaged her to say when she would like to come and I was abit upset she never messaged. But she literally blanked my message left me on read!! She still views my stories and we follow each other. But since that day no communication at all. Shall I just block her and move on. I find this so heartbreaking and rude am I wrong to feel upset.

How much is everyone’s baby eating? Age, amount and how frequent?
My little boy is 7 weeks old and he has anything between 70ml-120ml every 2 hours! I always worry that the 70ml is too little but he’s gaining beautifully. Was 7lbs 10 at birth and is now 11lbs 8😬
