"have you even tried to get them to speak?" Maybe you can tell me what I'm missing.

•spoke to them and read to them as babies.
• took them to the doctor when language didn't start developing (1 year old)
• referred to early intervention clinic at 16m
• it was the pandemic so virtual visit with SLP and parenting classes to teach speech.
• "people games" and repeating words (they need to hear it 50 times minimum to know it)
• wait list for diagnosis
• wait list for specialized services
• hearing test and checks for tongue ties
• diagnosis
• specialized school for pre school and kinder with an SLP
• got a developmental pediatrician
• no screen time
• single language use
• language modeling/modeling with aac
• labelling everything
• summer camp with SLP/ another summer camp with kids who talk
•exposure to family and kids who can speak
• introduction of basic sign language still with speech
• twice a week home visits from experts for 2 going on 3 years.
• genetic testing
• built team of experts in speech, childhood development, etc to help.
• rewarding the use of any language.
• repeating the sounds they make.
• learning how they communicate to meet their needs.

I think thats it. Maybe there is something you know that I don't. My parents only ever spoke around me and I spoke early.

They were born during lock down so we weren't at baby groups but I've been told those are not required for speech development. Being in a house with your parents is typically enough. I was also told that screens don't stop language development but can delay for some. Children born to deaf parents and are not deaf themselves develop spoke language often without delay. You can speak multiple languages in a house and it might delay some kids but not most. They tested their hearing with a device in the ear that sees it the ear reacts to sound. It was done at birth as is normal and again at 2 years old and I've asked for it to be done again but they said it's unnecessary.

Their doctor said language may never develop or could start showing up around ages 7-9 or closer to puberty. They are 6.

this might be a silly question but do you still speak to them everyday as if they are able to speak back? rather than just accepting that they can’t speak and adapting instead of encouraging? x

I’m not even a quarter as knowledgeable as I’m sure you are about this from just the research and experience you’ve had but I’d honestly imagine that it’s nothing of your doing that caused or didn’t cause your kiddos to not speak. And I imagine as twins there’s also an even bigger pointing to a genetic deviation because as you pointed out, kids who don’t get the same environmental stimulus of reading, low screens etc will be verbal on time if not slightly late. Idk if you need to hear it but you seem like an amazing mother, and you’re doing all you should be

What I hate about how people treat moms when their kids are behind or delayed or diagnosed with something. It’s immediately the mom’s fault. It’s something the mom did or didn’t do. It’s always the mom’s fault. My kid just got diagnosed with autism. Nobody in our family knows and I don’t want them to know because they’re going to blame me.

It’s because you didn’t talk to him enough.
It’s because you yelled at him.
It’s because he watched ms Rachel all day.
It’s because he didn’t watch Barney.
It’s because you vaccinated him.

Or maybe this is how God made him and I am going to do everything in my power to help him succeed in life. ignore them. Wallah they don’t know what it’s like to raise a child that needs extra help in a world ready to point fingers on blaming someone for how the child is.

Mine started speaking at 3 as soon as they started childcare.
I did therapy speech at age 2 nothing happened.
Being sounded by other children did help.
But mine children are exposed to 3 different languages.

My kid has a speech delay and we decided to use screens. Ms rachel and sesame street have helped sooooooo much!
Now shes 5 and were beginning to have like actual conversations. Shes been in prek since 3 cause of the early intervention program and that has also helped a TON. Theyve got speech and occupational therapists that come to class. They utilize sign language in class for certain things so she still uses it at home when its applicable. It also took until this past may for her to be totally toilet trained but when it happened it literally felt like it was overnight.

Ahh you missed talking and singing to them from 18 weeks when they were in the womb. Thats it. Found the answer. How could you 🤣

Sleeping

Curious as to when we start leaving our babies to wake up by themselves during the night??.

My little girl is six weeks and (touch wood🪵) has always been a great sleeper. I am still waking up during the night to wake her up for a feed as she would sleep all night if I let her.

She’s currently on 150ml every 3 hrs and 180ml before bedtime. She has had a good weight gain and perfectly healthy?? Should I just leave her till she wakes up herself?? What’s everybody else’s experiences?? 🙈Xxx

Husband doesn’t want me to get a boob job

I brought up possibly wanting one after I’m done breastfeeding. I’ve breast fed all 3 kids and when this baby is done I would want to get it. My boobs changed a lot from breast feeding I think they are uneven & saggy now. I wouldn’t get huge ones just natural but my husband says he doesn’t like that and it’s “fake”. I told him it would just to make me feel good in my own body but he’s really against it. What should I do?

I can’t do this!

I’m so confused. I keep seeing people who have no issues sleeping with their babies or near their babies. I can’t! It’s been like 3, 4 weeks? IDk. Today it feels like I just hit a wall. I’ve tried the swaddling, and she still stirs and makes noises that wakes me up. I’ve tried the bed sharing. She still moves and fusses and squirms. I’m so tired. I dread nighttime because I know there’s no way I’m going to actually sleep. During the day I can hand baby to hubby and get some chunks of sleep, but at night, every little sound just wakes me up. I don’t know what to do.
