Did you see he now wants to change New Mexico into new America… I really hate this racist narcissist.
But anyways this isn’t the reason i downloaded Mapquest but it is a reason i appreciate Mapquest cuz they said they won’t change the name. (I downloaded Mapquest cuz Waze was being a bitch by sharing data and shit with Israel so fuck all these fucking map apps but Mapquest!)

They do this with basically every name dispute. The US sees the names they changed because Google and Apple abide by their naming standard. Mexico sees Gulf of Mexico, and Canada sees Lake Ontario, because Google and Apple abide by our naming standards. Everywhere else, they will see the original name with the disputed one in brackets. In Canada, we see the Gulf of Mexico (Gulf of America), but we also see Lake Ontario - no brackets.
Fun fact: MapQuest has absolutely refused to make either change, and guess who's suddenly getting a LOT more downloads.

Another fun fact: so my husband works for a company that basically handles car dealership websites across North America. A lot of the websites have Google maps embedded in them. Naturally, the maps pull information from either google.com, or google.ca, depending on the website.
Guess where a lot of the Canadian side were pulling their information from. It's fixed now, but a lot of people were piiiissed. And not just the dealerships, but a shit ton of customers were calling in, as well. My friend in St. Catharines said their hydro was having the same issue.

I wish we could just like vote in the maps apps on what name we the people want to see.
But democracy has been dead for a long time so I know that’s wishful thinking.

So anyway!! If anyone's interested, there is a Canadian company out of Antigonish, NS, called Peace By Chocolate. It was started by a family of Syrian refugees and chocolatiers who brought their craft from Syria over to Canada, and they do a lot of advocacy and philanthropy work. They currently have a bar in their online store called "Lake Ontario," and like all of their products, the label tells the story of the lake, where the name comes from, and it's cultural and historical significance. 100% a company worth supporting. You know. Just because. No particular reason. There's both a book and a movie about their story and the loss of their original factory in Syria.
Also, their chocolate is fucking incredible.

Bro I am so annoyed by this.

I don’t give 2 💩💩 about this! If you’re upset over something this stupid, you need help

Gosh talk about make it difficult to get back into work. I have 18+ years of property management under my belt and I’m fighting for my life just to work around childcare I don’t want my baby in daycare 5 days a week just so I can work to pay for it 🤦🏻♀️ rant over

I had no problems telling people I'm close to our news, but finding it really weird to tell people like coworkers or neighbours that I'm pregnant?! It feels like such a bombshell to drop into a normal conversation and I hate the fuss and all the questions that follow.
I'm definitely looking visibly rounder now so think people are probably working it out for themselves, but of course noone will dare say anything to my face 🤣
Does anyone else feel awkward telling people or is it just me?
