Its been my 2 year olds second day today, only there 70 minutes, meant to be 3 hours from thursday, when i picked him up today, because hes fallen asleep just before pickup, she was saying hes not allowed to sleep, that they dont have a safe place to put him if he sleeps. She was insinuating that he’r lose his 2 year placement there due to this, that they cant have him if he naps, i brought up that this was fine a few years ago with my daughter napping still, as theyre 2, all she said was rules have changed.
Yet everywhere ive looked, the EYFS states they can sleep, and school must legally have a safe place for them to sleep

If i was you and its possible ill just find him somewhere else. Theyre meant to provide a safe place for him to nap and they cant expect a 2 year old to not nap either. My eldest is 4 in December and literally went to sleep in the middle of the room in nursery yesterday. They pulled a sleep mat out for him and placed him on there and let him sleep until he woke up. Theres been times hell just get the sleep mat himself and go to sleep in the middle of the day. Hes been known to fall asleep snuggled into staff. My 2 year old starts next week and theyve said theyll give him a nap. So the setting should be provide him a safe place to sleep and if theyre not able to ill look elsewhere as no one cant expect a 2 year old to go the whole day without a nap without being grouchy or overly tired and its just mean to keep them awake

How does a nursery not have a safe sleep space? My son is 3.5 in the pre school room at his nursery, on the odd occasion he falls asleep and that’s fine they lay him on a sleep bed/mat 🤔 something seems odd to me!!

This is worrying, I would try and finf somewhere else if possible. Unless it was because of the session timings rather than them not having anywhere for safe sleep? Lots of 2 year olds nap so I dont understand how this would work for the majority of kids

Speak to the manager as your first port of call.
Editing to add because I’ve been thinking about it - any chance they meant because he’d fallen asleep at a non nap time of day? Or he’d fallen asleep when they didn’t have a cot for him because it was a settling day?

Speak to the manager, it’s not right for a 2 yr old not to be aloud to have a nap!

Escalate this to management. If that doesn’t work the care commission (local equivalent). Sleep deprivation is a form of torture and it’s not unreasonable, uncommon or strange for a 2 year old to need a nap.

All I can think they mean is that recently the rules changed regarding what equipment is used for sleeps and maybe what they have doesn't meet regulation and they can't afford to get new stuff?? I dont know i would definitely ask to speak to the manager and clarify

There must be some kind of miscommunication as there's no way that they're saying he can't nap there ever??

Yeah everyones saying what i thought and have read online, theyre legally meant to have a sleep safe place, but they havent so refuse to have him if he still naps, another mum rang me earlier saying she had the same problem where she was made to go to the morning session, but i cant do that as the morning is full now. But surely the school is breaking some sort of law cos how is that allowed

As an EYFS teacher, this is outrageous for them to say. Why would they take children from 2 who typically nap, if they can’t provide a safe place for them to sleep.
I would find somewhere else if I was you xx
My baby is weighing up on the 50th centile and has been since 6/7 weeks (now 13) health visitor is insiting we feed her more and also want us to go back AGAIN just to weigh her?
My baby feeds every couple of hours, burps well and rarely cries. She only wakes up once in the night for food. She also does all the usual things you would expect a baby her age to do. She is chirpy, smiley and calm pretty much all the time.
Am I being unreasonable to not want to feed her more milk (health visitor is suggesting we up the amount by 33%!?)
She currently has around 930ml over an average of 8 bottles in 24 hours. Her weight is plotting perfectly along the 50th curve, but she was born around the 75th.
(Throughout pregnancy I was plotting just below the 50th too then in the last couple of weeks shot up to 90th)
I am genuinely asking if you think I’m being unreasonable because I can be quite adverse to being told what to do 😅

My little one is 18 months old, we have followed the car seat fitting guidance to the letter but her legs seem really cramped up in her seat. She is still rear facing and we have removed any of the newborn/smaller baby cushions that were part of the seat.
Is anyone else having this issue? We have a Cosatto and joie one .. the Cosatto one isn’t too bad but the joie one seems like she has less space.
Any advice/guidance would be appreciated 😀

Hi all.
I'm expecting my first in a couple of months so after some advice on next to me cribs.
We plan on putting baby next to dad's side of the bed - we've heard it can help them to settle. We totally might change that if it doesn't work but that's the initial plan.
We don't want to sleep with the side of the next to me down just for babies safety (I know some people do it and feel safe, and I pass no judgement on whatever works for anyone else, but personally we don't want to).
So we think having a zip down side might be too tricky in the middle of the night so we're thinking a button-style one might be easier?
We're maybe thinking the mamas and papas Lua? Does anyone have experience (good or bad) of that?
Are there any benefits to having one where the sides come down fully if we don't plan to co-sleep?
First time parents here so after any advice on things in relation to this we might not have thought of please!

My LO is 13 months old. He understands EVERYTHING. I say get the ball bring it to me he does. I ask him to show me the planes he points. He waves he claps. Everytime I speak to him he responds with ‘ooohh’
He babbles dadada wawawawa bababa and constantly makes noises. Like oooohh ahhhh uhhhh but no proper real word yet. Should I be worried?
