Next to me cribs?

Hi all.

I'm expecting my first in a couple of months so after some advice on next to me cribs.

We plan on putting baby next to dad's side of the bed - we've heard it can help them to settle. We totally might change that if it doesn't work but that's the initial plan.

We don't want to sleep with the side of the next to me down just for babies safety (I know some people do it and feel safe, and I pass no judgement on whatever works for anyone else, but personally we don't want to).

So we think having a zip down side might be too tricky in the middle of the night so we're thinking a button-style one might be easier?

We're maybe thinking the mamas and papas Lua? Does anyone have experience (good or bad) of that?

Are there any benefits to having one where the sides come down fully if we don't plan to co-sleep?

First time parents here so after any advice on things in relation to this we might not have thought of please!

Only used the next to me crib for the first week , baby was waking up every 10 min , been sleep deprived so decided to safely cosleep. Saved my life, my sanity , baby is 5 months old and healthy and happy, sleeps through the whole night since decided to cosleep. My mom has done it with me, literally all my family has done it, so many cultures practice it and is the best choice i have ever made. If you do it safely and breastfeeding, you might save yourself some wasted money on the crib. Tried to dad’s side, no difference, still woke up. Baby is used to feel warmth and being held tight, not left alone on a cold mattress since the moment they are born. My opinion.

We had a zip down side next to me but didn’t really unzip it as we didn’t fully connect it to our bed. We had the ‘see through’ side closest to us and then just lifted baby out when we needed to.

I have a button press next-to-me Ickle Bubba ready, they're on sale for £125 on the Ickle Bubba website. Came with a 'basket' underneath where we've put a changing mat, muslins, nappies, wipes, and cleans for easy nappy changes too.

We’ve been using the Chicco Next2Me Magic Evo since we brought our baby home and it’s been great. The side slides up and down so it’s really easy to put the side down if you need to in the night, but we keep it up nearly all the time. The sides are mesh as well, so it’s easy to check on baby without having to put the side down.

I had the Snuzpod and to be fair I left the side down, because when the side was up I couldn’t see her when I was in bed which every little noise had me jumping up to see her which was just way too disruptive 😂 from what I remember it was a button one. There’s still a bit of a barrier that stops them from falling out, but honestly they don’t roll around for a while. X

Am I being unreasonable?

My baby is weighing up on the 50th centile and has been since 6/7 weeks (now 13) health visitor is insiting we feed her more and also want us to go back AGAIN just to weigh her?
My baby feeds every couple of hours, burps well and rarely cries. She only wakes up once in the night for food. She also does all the usual things you would expect a baby her age to do. She is chirpy, smiley and calm pretty much all the time.

Am I being unreasonable to not want to feed her more milk (health visitor is suggesting we up the amount by 33%!?)

She currently has around 930ml over an average of 8 bottles in 24 hours. Her weight is plotting perfectly along the 50th curve, but she was born around the 75th.
(Throughout pregnancy I was plotting just below the 50th too then in the last couple of weeks shot up to 90th)

I am genuinely asking if you think I’m being unreasonable because I can be quite adverse to being told what to do 😅

Blowouts

My boy is 2.8 and at night time we are having continuous blowouts baring in mind we’re wearing the night time pull up nappies that say they have extra protection for dryness. Clearly they don’t. I’ve now bought a protective waterproof bottom sheet as I’m washing bedsheets everyday and changing them 2/3 times in the night. His PJs are soaking and his sleep is being disturbed. My question is which nappies I do use to prevent this from keep happening? Thanks

Am I being over sensitive

Last year I had my first baby who after I became seriously ill was delivered 2 months early. When I finished at work that was it. I got a very basic card in the post and a bouquet of flowers then heard nothing off of the company for the entire year I was off. This week a colleague is leaving to start her maternity leave. A group of people have organised a hamper for her and baby asking for monetary contributions. SO much has been bought and who knows how much money has been spent. Gift cards for coffees out, clothes for baby, bath products for mum and baby etc. I was asked to sign a card and it was full of so many messages telling her what an amazing and great mummy she will be, words I’ve never heard. I’m 16 weeks with our 2nd and know that when I leave again it will be just like last time. No recognition and a simple card in the post as that’s company policy. I’m sat at my desk feeling so stung and hurt by this. It’s a lovely gesture being done but surely if it’s because they’re friends it’s something that should have been done privately and away from work. Maybe I’m a rubbish mum and no one actually cares as no one really seems to care at all especially during a 2nd pregnancy

Only pooping when nappy is off 🤔

Hiya, I was just wondering if anyone elses little one does this? She is my second child and my first didn't do this, so its all new.
My little one will only poop when her nappy is off. There may be the slightest residue in the nappy at times but otherwise, she waits until the nappy is off to go. She is 7months old and this has been the case for the past 2 months. Please tell me its not just us. 🙈

Bedtime?

Hey - just curious what time everyone’s little ones are going to sleep typically? Especially keen to hear if you had a late bedtime during the newborn stage, have you moved it earlier and has it helped?

My boy basically fell asleep downstairs with us from about 9:30 until 10:30 every evening, we’d do his bedtime routine and he’d be asleep around 11:30. He slept through from about 5 weeks doing this, but we’re 3 weeks into a regression. He’s waking at least once or twice and needing a feed to settle and often waking and resettling himself on top of that too. He’s always been low on sleep needs and we’ve been at about 11-12 hours per day for a couple of months now so he’s never going to do say 7-7.

I’m just wondering if it’s time to bring bedtime forward so really keen to hear what everyone else is doing!

postpartum anger and anxiety

so me and my babies father constantly go at it and i’ve been trying to tell him my anxiety has been awful but he won’t listen and he comes home from work everyday and immediately goes to shower and eats and hops on the game while im with my 3 month old i feel as if he never wants anything to do with her unless she is sleeping and i told him that i felt that way and i wasn’t being mean or anything when i said it to him and he blew his lid and ever since then he has called me every name under the sun and i got told that he regrets having a kid with me he told me i make him want to harm his self he didn’t love me he told me all kinds of things i feel like i shouldn’t put on here and don’t get me wrong i have said some things but it’s because im not going to sit there and get disrespected and take it. our relationship was perfect but the exact day in the hospital right immediately after i gave birth he started treating me differently. and has been mean to me. i’m severely depressed and i get called selfish for being upset about things and he expects me to have sex with him after he will sit there and degrade me and gets mad when i’m not in the mood i have bad blood pressure problems and i told him he needs to stop because my blood pressure is getting high and he straight up told me he doesn’t care. i almost died giving birth because my blood pressure. i feel so unappreciated and it’s an everyday thing. i just want a happy family
