Sudden loss of our family cat

So Monday morning we lost our 9 year old cat very suddenly due to an aortic thromboembolism (a blood clot that was in his heart broke off into his body and caused his death).

I recused this cat when he was a few weeks old and had him through every major life event. He was even our 5 month old baby’s best friend, he LOVED to snuggle with us.

I’m really struggling with how to cope and the grief is truly taking over but I know I have to hold it together because mums don’t get a break when someone so tiny needs you at your best.

I guess I’m just looking for anyone who has been in a similar situation and wondering how you coped and how soon things started to feel even the tiniest bit easier?

To make it worse, my partner was on his way back from his friend’s stag-do and didn’t even get to say his goodbyes. We took our cat to the vet yesterday to be sent off for a cremation and he’s going to have a gorgeous little urn that looks just like him (I found the others looked a bit too morbid and wanted something that looked cute without obviously being an urn).

Any advice or support would be truly appreciated as this is my first loss of a pet and I truly can’t see myself ever being used to him not being here 💔

Really sorry for your loss. We really suddenly lost our 'first' furbaby to something similar last summer and it was horrible. The only thing I can say is that it does get easier over time and my little girl still talks about her every day and how she lives in the sky. We had another cat at the same time (and have since got a second) which I think maybe helped the loss a little bit.

Just a positive note…

Everyone warned me about the first three months being very demanding and difficult but now that we have overcome, I want to share that you will sleep again, you’ll start to enjoy routines and their smiles get bigger so it makes it all worth it 😀

Please check this message for me.

Without providing any context I know it's hard, but my husband and I are in a bad place. I want to repair things. Please just check this and see if it's fair/makes sense/is clear about my intention?

Naps in bedroom cot

When did you start to put them in their cot in their own bedroom for daytime naps?

Sleeping through night?

Just out of curiosity when did your LOs start sleeping through the night?
I know sleep regressions exist and each baby is different but wondering if there is some kind of average.
Our LO is 6 weeks and goes between 3-5h at night, aware there is still a way to go!

Baby carrier??

Please can any recommend a good carrier, my little girl is 4 months old, I want one with good neck support so I don’t have the hold her head from bobbing about so much when she falls asleep if that makes sense. I currently have a baby bjorn & I hate it. I need one with good back support also!! Thanks 😊😊

Daytime naps

My little one is five months old and she refuses to sleep during the day. If we manage to get her down she’s either in the pram or after a feed. At night she feeds and then sleeps but wakes after an hour and a half to feed again or screams. Her wake windows can be over four hours long. I know that’s too long and I’m exhausted and emotional. Any advice would be appreciated.
