Gallstones + IBD

I was wondering if anyone here has had their gallbladder removed and also has IBD? I’ve been having painful gallstone attacks but also have ulcerative colitis and Iv read that removing the gallbladder can cause digestive issues so a little apprehensive to get it removed so was wondering if anyone here has or is in a similar situation?🥲

Hey. After my GB was removed I was then left with bile acid malabsorption which can’t ever be cured just managed by tablets🥲

Not the same but I've always had a bit of IBS which is slightly worse since having my gallbladder removed but not much. I'm slightly more sensitive to very greasy/fatty foods now but I can basically eat whatever I want.
There is a risk that it can cause digestive problems but no guarantee, on the other hand having your gallbladder removed is the only guaranteed fix once you've started to develop gallstones.
My consultant told me that once you've started having gallstones and attacks it will never stop unless it is removed, it can be managed short term by eating a low fat diet but this isn't a long term solution and eventually even on a maintained restricted diet the gallbladder problems would return 🙃
I had to wait a year between diagnosis and getting my date for removal, I managed pretty well with diet in that time but still had a couple of attacks. It's been a year since I had it out now and I definitely don't miss it 😅
