Getting baby to Nap without it having to be On Me…

No advice. My little girl was like this and it's very very normal. I know it's hard sometimes as you need to get things done or have some food but I would suggest get help as much as you can. Also using a carrier/sling helps to have your hands free when your little one is napping.

Lots of practice. Try at least one nap a day in the crib, whenever sleep pressure is highest and they normally tend to nap well. For us that was the first nap of the morning. If it doesn't take and they wake up, that's normal; just pick them up and try to rescue the nap or, if they absolutely won't sleep, try again later. Babies have short wake windows so "later" won't be very far away anyway. The rest of the naps for the day can be contact so they actually get some sleep and don't get overtired.

It won't work right away, but if you're consistent about trying, and always responsive when they wake up and cry, they learn that the crib is a safe space and they should become more comfortable with it over time. It may take months. But it's a process, not a sprint.

Also, pay attention to the difference between "fussing" and full-on crying. If they fuss, give them a moment to figure it out themselves, but go to them obviously if they actually cry. Learning the difference helps.
