Telling kids about seperation

Hi all, my partner and I have recently split and plan to tell the kids this weekend. Im feeling sick about having the conversation....are there any words of advice on how best to deliver the news to the kids? They're all 5 and under so I guess mainly my 5 year old will understand what's going on....

I can only say that when I was a kid and my parents got divorced I wished they kept it simple, and told me together and made room for asking any questions and express any feelings. Maybe told me at a park or somewhere where we could still have family time afterward and hugs.

Keep it simple. Is there a plan yet?
If between you, you know about where hell lives and how often he'll see them that will help. Keep it age appropriate and simple.
They'll probably ask and be confused and maybe even sad over the next month or so maybe longer, maybe shorter. but kiddos are resilient one day soon it'll click and then it'll be the new normal. It takes longer for the adults usually!

If you know where he'll live, how often visitation will be etc to reassure them.

I'd say all families are different some mummies and daddies live together in a house some have their own. Daddy is going to get his own house. We both love you, and Daddy will see you all the time xxx days/evenings/weekends will be daddy time.

You also might find the invisible string book helpful connected by love even when not together, I'd do the book and then freestyle our situation as well xxx
