Opinions…..

So my SD is 9 and my bio son is 3.5. I also have a 9 month old.

My SD is not able to wipe her own bum. She cannot bathe herself and asks her dad to brush her hair etc for her too. She is very unwilling to try or to learn. It is very frustrating and I believe she doesn’t do this anywhere else (can’t confirm as her mum doesn’t communicate)

Anyways I have had a few conversations with my partner about how I do not want my son and her bathing together. As she used to ask. My son has baths with his baby sibling but I think 8 is the absolute cut off for me especially opposite gender baths. If it was 9 year old boy and 3 year old girl it would look super strange?

Anyways, there’s been 2 occasions where that has been ignored by my partner in the past and we’ve spoke about it and how I have no control/ say in my own home and parenting. Another occasion they asked and he asked me despite knowing the answer, and then it makes me the bad guy?

Today, I set up some food colouring and baking soda vinegar stuff and they were playing potions outside and I went off the get baby to sleep. Then I get a photo from my partner of them in the bath together washing off the colour. I obviously was like wtf? Why have my wishes been gone against?

I’m triggered as I feel like
1. She should be bathing herself (or attempting to)
2. I’ve said no?

I’ve then had a reply from my partner basically saying he was stressed they were going to get colour everywhere so panicked. I did say that perhaps she could’ve waited outside and played for 5 mins while my 3 year old was contained and bathed and then her turn and he said she wouldn’t be able to do this and would touch everything. I just feel like she has the expectations of a toddler despite being a tween girl and 6 years older than my son!

Your partner needs to stop being lazy and sort the situation out. I don't think my kids have bathed together since probs 5 & 3 (girl and boy)
My daughter could shower herself including washing her hair from being 5 or 6. She's 10 now and I'll help her with her hair if she wants a certain style, otherwise I have no part of her routine (which is more extensive than my own 🙃) If I asked if she needed help wiping her bum she would be horrified 😂
I have an 8 year old son who showers completely independently and I've started letting my 4 year old do everything except the final rinse just so I know she's clean / sud free.
Your partner is ignoring your wishes because it's easier to bath 2 kids at once than separately and that's not on when you've said no.

That's insane, my SD are 12 and 8, and since older was 9, she bathes on her own. We did have an episode, around when they were 8& 5yo where he used to let them jump into our bed in the morning, naked (not us naked, the kids). I did bring it up to say I find it super uncomfortable at that age & it stopped immediately. You really need to be stern on this. Wiping 9yo bum is shocking 😲

Do better ladies

This app is so toxic.
Nearly every post asking for advice of some sort and if someone doesn’t like your opinion or you don’t validate everyone’s feelings then you’re immediately bullied and bombarded with names and insults. Women have gone as far as making fun of my baby and his medical needs, his looks, telling me to kill myself. It’s also nonstop bashing husbands, etc.
And don’t waste your time making a report cause you’ll be ignored.
Thought becoming a mom would be this wonderful experience to make some new friends and be uplifted and I’ve come to the conclusion that majority of women in all walks of life are just truly horrible human beings.
I’m totally okay keeping my circle intimate. This world is going to shit. ✌🏽

I know she can tell that it's unusual

So my husband has to go away for work, he's been away from Tuesday and will be back Friday night. I am at home with our three months old daughter, well it's going ok we both getting through, I had a phone call with my husband, her dad, last night and I think she was a little whingey because she could hear him but he obviously wasn't there, well she woke up at four ish for a feed and then when I placed her back in the cot after she fell asleep she was up again, yawning wanting sleep but not going, well I picked her up for a cuddle instantly she was asleep, same happened at seven ISH feed time, is this because she knows he's not there and needs extra comfort or am I reading into this because I got another week of my husband being away and I don't like because of her age but we can't do anything about it.

Nursery help please!!!!

I’m due to return to work from maternity leave in January 2027 and I’m DREADING IT, he’ll be 1. I just feel so bad for him, I have such a clingy baby and I think he’s going to think I’ve abandoned him 😭 we co-sleep, is exclusively breastfed (won’t take a bottle / dummy but will sometimes have small amounts of pumped milk in a cup with straw) and I’m the only one who can put him down for naps (fed to sleep) and then I roll away. Not even his dad can put him to sleep (he falls asleep with rocking but wakes the moment he touched the mattress when transferred).

I’ve never spent more than 2 hours away from him (2-3 times). We don’t have any family or friends who can look after the baby to even practice him being away from us.

In an ideal world I would wait for him to go to nursery when he is able to talk and understand that I’m not leaving him forever and I’ll be coming back, the thought of it breaks me!

I’m already struggling with mental health (post natal depression and anxiety). I’m considering taking a career break (if my work will let me), or staying off sick for a few months or paying back my enhanced maternity pay (£9000) and leaving the company! Money will be very tight but this could work for around 6 months.

I don’t know what to do, any suggestions or experience would be appreciated!

Thanks xxx

How much is your baby eating?

I feel so stressed when I see these TikTok’s of peoples babies eating huge bottles like 7-8oz per feeding and my LO is barely eating 4oz MAYBE 5. He is combo fed but whether it’s formula or breastmilk he won’t go past 5oz. His pediatrician is happy with his weight gain and he sleeps pretty decent at night, but I can’t help but wonder why he doesn’t eat as much as other babies 😅 (he’s 5 months btw)
