Birth plan!

I am 5 weeks PP no one ever went over my birth plan with me, when I went to hospital I still never got spoken to, the NHS ruined my pregnancy, birth & PP

I found the midwives at the hospital really paid attention to my birth plan, and even when things went sideways they did their best to keep as many parts of it as possible. I kept the plan quite simple, bulletpoints on just 2 sides of A4 so they could read it at a glance.

How far along are you? It's usually not discussed until 36 weeks appointment

They should go through a birth plan with you at some point, but to avoid disappointment please note that it is brief and not very detailed ( or atleast in my two experiences).

Why not ask your midwife when they plan to discuss this (I know you mention no continuity of care but you cab still ask whoever you see at your next appointment).

My main suggestion is to make sure that you and your birthing partner know if like the back of your hand and make sure your birthing partner is someone who is not shy to advocate for you when you can't.

My husband was my birth partner and we went over my preferences multiple times and he was so brilliant at communicating these for me when I couldn't.

The birth didn't go the exact way I wanted it, but that's rare and an unrealistic expectation, despite this both my births were amazing and I honestly think if was due to strongly communicating my preferences throughout!
