I saw a TikTok the other day where a mum was sharing her rules as a ‘strict’ parent.
her kids ONLY drink water, unless it’s a special occasion/meal, then they’re allowed juice. NEVER pop.
( her children get sugar through other things like fruit, snacks, etc. )
I know most mums allow their kids to drink water AND juice, then pop is what they’re only allowed during a special occasion/meal.
Im currently carrying my first child, so not just there yet. However, I plan on doing only water.

My kids can have juice and water as they please. If we are doing a physical activity (biking) we take water. And he has water next to his bed at night time. He's only 3 so hasn't had pop. And fair play that they can get there kids to drink water all the time, it is better for you x

I don't present anything as a "treat" because imo that makes it more desirable. But we'll offer squash or a smoothie every now and again at home, and if we're eating out. No pop. She's had a few little tries if my husband has a ginger beer or we have lemonade or something. We did just water/milk until 2.5 ish, she's 3.5 now. She still has a cup of milk with breakfast and after dinner. She loves a smoothie! We've just told her things have different energy in them so we don't have sugary food/drinks all the time and haven't had any issues yet.

My daughter only drinks water and oat milk on a daily basis. I don’t do ‘treats’ because I don’t want her viewing certain foods/drinks as better than others but we enjoy making smoothies together! If I fancy a hot chocolate, we’ll share it, and she has chocolate milkshake every now and then but it’s the Bonjour one so it’s secretly healthy 😅 but again I don’t present them as ‘treats’.
Juice, squash, and pop are just not things that I ever buy, I forget they exist 🤷🏼♀️
She’s allowed juice & squash but I wouldn’t buy them to have at home, and I wouldn’t allow pop at all unless it’s like lemonade at a party or something but I’d avoid it if possible

My kids are 4 and 2. They sometimes have juice at meals. We haven’t done any pop yet because they are so young but I won’t be against an occasional pop either when they are older.
I personally think having such strict rules like this is a negative

I plan to never buy soda, I wasn’t raised on it as a kid and still have zero desire for it as an adult. It’s pure garbage. Juice at least has nutritional value if you get the right kind, which is what we buy for our son

My kids are 6 & 2. They both drink squash throughout the day, can have as much as they want. They will have the occasional cup of milk when they ask, they will still drink water if I give it to them. My 6 year old enjoys a sprite or J20 when we go out for a meal & my 2 year old will have a fruit shoot. I don’t care as long as they drink and don’t dehydrate.

My daughter will be 2 in December. She’s never had juice - she only drinks water & whole milk. I MIGHT introduce her to a special occasion juice, but really don’t see the need … added sugar is a no for me. Definitely no pop. I don’t even drink pop or juice. 🤷🏼♀️

My daughters 2, she drinks water with apple juice or squash being a special treat. My boy is 11, he drinks squash, juice, water all day and only has pop every now and then. We don't ever really have pop in the house, we all like it but even as an adult its not really a drink I'd wanna consume everyday personally.

My boys get juice and water mixed. Every day

I dont want my son drinking soda unless we are eating out or its a special occasion and he is at least 4 years old. He is only 1 atm and has stolen sips of soda before but hates the carbonation so luckily he doesnt like it yet lol. We give him an ounce or two of pedialyte with every 7 or 8 ounces of water in his bottle. Only because he has been going through a phase of only drinking milk unless he has a bit of pedialyte in his water. He used to love just water but when he gets sick he just wants milk and last time he got sick he just didnt want to get back on the water. I dont like giving him juice yet. Maybe when he turns 2 he can have it watered down but apple juice is mainly just used to help him poop when he is constipated. Last time someone gave him juice he was pooping like crazy for 3 days😭😭 So, I prefer not to give it to him unless he needs it. Once every blue moon we'll give him chocolate milk but not daily.

We pretty much do water only day to day 🤍 My daughter will have juice on special occasions or with something like a meal/takeaway, but we don’t give fizzy drinks. Part of that is because we noticed a pattern where certain drinks seemed to make her wet nappies irritate her skin more and leave her sore, so water just works best for her. I’m not against treats at all, we’ve just found this is what suits her body best 🥰

My almost 4 year old drinks water all the time, juice and milk when she wants it. Never soda so far. She has flavored sparking water occasionally when my husband has it and shares.
We just recently stopped cutting her juice

My kids have water, apple juice, and one kid likes almond milk. They don’t like soda. So they would not consider that a treat. Lol

We haven’t introduced soda yet. Don’t plan to until my kid is quite a bit older. My son is allowed diluted juice quite frequently though.
There is a family lives two doors down from us and they have 3 kids, a boy, a girl and a baby. The girl cries a lot and it often sounds like she’s being neglected by her own parents. Like she would just let her cry. It happens a lot from evening to nighttime, and it would last between 5-10+ minutes. I once heard them from our garden when the little girl was crying and her mum was banging loudly on something a few times and shouted at her. I know they’re Muslim because she’s got the hijab on. It’s always just the little girl crying in distress.
Almost every night.
I do hear her laughing, but it’s so rare.
What do you think I should do?
I live in the UK btw. I thought about knocking to check on her but I don’t know if it’s safe to do? I have met the dad in the playground before with his older son and he sounded like he loves his son and his wife. It’s just the mum? Idk.

My baby is 12 months old now and I usually feed her by putting bite size pieces of food on to her tray one by one. I noticed that if I put more than one piece of food she will try put all pieces in her mouth at the same time.. 😆
Just wondering what other parents do - are you able to put a full plate of food in front of your baby and they will work away at it themselves?

Hiii i am a first time mum and my daughter is 7 months old. She has been weaning perfectly, loves food, loves being messy, loves shoving everything in her mouth at once but recently it’s like she’s not interested in it. Is she bored of what i’m feeding her? Am i doing something wrong? any answers or advice would be amazing please as i feel like this is effecting her weight gain also 😕

My son is 8 months old and I've always felt super weird when we're with my in-laws, his grandparents. They are so loving and great with him, just I feel crazy overprotective and uncomfortable about everything. Even silly things like them sitting and reading a book with him, or building towers.
They're doing absolutely nothing wrong, I just feel like I can't relax and I just want him back all the time. Everything just makes me cringe for some reason.
I just don't understand my feelings. They are lovely people, I just feel very weird when he's with them.
This isn't the case with my parents however.
Anyone feel the same or can help me figure out this feeling?

Honestly two kids 3 and 1 it’s just getting so hard. Their dad comes and stays sometimes but isn’t consistent. I just feel so worked up and stressed and tired all in one! I feel like I’m not cut out I feel like they deserve a much better mum than me I’m just so stressed
