4 month regression?

Hi moms!
My 4 month old has never been the best sleeper I think I’ve had one 6hr stretch since birth. But nothing could have prepared me for this. We can get him to sleep in our arms but then the transfer he will either wake him immediately or he only lasts 5-20 mins in the crib. If we are lucky maybe one 1hr stretch. We are doing all the tricks of slow..bottom first, hand on chest etc.. My husband and i are taking turns but after ~ 6 attempted transfers we usually just stay awake and hold him. This feels wild and exhausting. He takes pretty solid day naps but they are all contact naps. Thoughts, advice, kind words welcomed. ❤️

Just went through this! Honestly not sure if we’re totally even in the clear yet. It was exhausting and I struggled for sure! Ours was also paired with bedtime scaries where she would scream the second we went to her room. It lasted almost two weeks. Then the other night she went down all on her own. No tears and is now doing 5-6 hour stretches, eating then going back down. I’m sure we’re not out of the regression yet as she is trying to roll, but just remind yourself that it’s just temporary. Nap if you can. Ask for help from parents during the day to nap. I had a few nights where I ended up co sleeping with her in the spare room just to get through the night. We didn’t build a bad habit. They’re just babies who need our support and comfort as the world is scary.

We are going through this right now too. She always only contact napped and was unable to be put down since she’s a newborn. With the 4 month sleep regression we started training her gentle to fall asleep in the crib. It’s been a lot of comforting and exhausting for us but I think it helped that the schedule didn’t fell apart completely. We could also tell she was ready to get sleep in her crib independently. She started preferring going down in the crib instead of getting sleepy in our arms

I just learned that babies are just now going through actual sleep cycles (light sleep, deep sleep, rem sleep) and when they transition into a new sleep cycle they need what they fell asleep with to stay asleep during the transition.
Example: baby fell asleep into light sleep cycle with pacifier, but it fell out shortly after falling asleep, when they move into deep sleep without the pacifier they will wake up.
Same goes for falling asleep while eating or being rocked and held.

Tickling

Do you allow family members to tickle your child? I personally find it really hard to watch as I hate being tickled, and although my daughter is kind of smiling i don’t think she enjoys it. How do you tell them to stop doing it? Or am I being over the top?
My daughter is almost 15 months

Baby breastfeeding while asleep?

My 3month old has started to keep drinking while she falls asleep? As in, Im nursing her, shes suckling, and then she nods off but...just keeps suckling? Lazily, but definitely still chomped on. She fights me when I try to break the seal, and if I dont remove the nipple from her she'll sleep-suckle for 20, 30min easily. When I do remove it successfully she wakes a few minutes later, absolutely furious!

Is this a 3month thing? My poor nipples 😢

C-section mums..

How soon after your sections did you go for a bath, I’ve read your not meant to soak the scar/wound in a bath but doesn’t say when you can 🫣 sometimes a shower just doesn’t cut it for “me time” 😅
Also how are people keep it dry, I have a slight overhang so looking for the best way to keep the scar dry without rubbing it with a towel like I want too!

MIL’s

Is it just me or do most MIL’s constantly criticise the way you parent as a mum. She has never really seen my husband do much other than hold baby or change the occasional nappy, and that apparently makes him the best dad in the world! Meanwhile I do everything as the mum and she has never said anything like that to me. Not even the slightest compliment, and I know that I’m trying my best but how do I not let this get to me. My husband doesn’t even offer to take the baby for a while whilst I rest or take a shower, I have to ask!! It might be the postpartum hormones taking over but I just want to be able make it clear to her that I take care of the baby 95% of the time.

3 month old bedtime?

What time are you putting your 3 month olds to bed at night? Mine I do 9pm but I’m worried that this is too late?

Partner not okay with breastfeeding

We started out with a combo of breast feeding and bottle feeding (formula and expressed milk) but I found breast feeding is just easier, quicker, less dishes.

Baby girl is coming up on 8weeks old and my partner is very uncomfortable with me breastfeeding with anyone around. I do my best to be discreet and respectful of his feelings but babies run on baby time. He won’t let me feed our baby if we are in public, I have to go to the car. If his family is over to see the baby I have to leave the conversation and go to another room while they continue to visit.

Has anyone else’s partner been uncomfortable? How did you navigate the conversation of “I’m going to feed our baby- idc if it makes you uncomfortable” without a huge fight?

Thanks in advance for any thought or advice!
