AM I IN THE WRONG FOR BEING UPSET

TW : infant death

i had twins almost two weeks ago and my baby boy passed .. and what my MIL said to me this morning triggered me . am i in the wrong ?

i took these photos of my daughter this morning and sent them to my MIL . she said " she looks dead . i dont like these .. sorry "

and thinking i didnt see the texts , she removed them.

it really struck me that she would say something like this because my son did pass. and im not sure who would even say something like this anyways. i didnt respond anything besides " she was sleeping the whole time " . i feel off put now and extra hurt not only because i took these but because im still grieving .

am i in the wrong for being upset ?

No you aren't wrong, your MILs comment is really inappropriate and I can absolutely see how it would be triggering. Your daughter looks adorable, very vibrant and like a typical healthy newborn. My guess would be that your MIL is grieving in her own way currently, and might not be ready to welcome your daughter in at this moment because she's processing the loss of her grandson, your boy. I would give her grace and empathy, and simultaneously keep an eye out for more weird behavior or off comments. I think she realized what she said was wrong and thats why she deleted them.

I went through similar things when my son passed, and while that is your baby and no one is going to feel that loss like you do, that the loss of a child shakes the whole family and people act all kinds of weird while grieving and sometimes say some stupid stuff

Tickling

Do you allow family members to tickle your child? I personally find it really hard to watch as I hate being tickled, and although my daughter is kind of smiling i don’t think she enjoys it. How do you tell them to stop doing it? Or am I being over the top?
My daughter is almost 15 months

Baby breastfeeding while asleep?

My 3month old has started to keep drinking while she falls asleep? As in, Im nursing her, shes suckling, and then she nods off but...just keeps suckling? Lazily, but definitely still chomped on. She fights me when I try to break the seal, and if I dont remove the nipple from her she'll sleep-suckle for 20, 30min easily. When I do remove it successfully she wakes a few minutes later, absolutely furious!

Is this a 3month thing? My poor nipples 😢

C-section mums..

How soon after your sections did you go for a bath, I’ve read your not meant to soak the scar/wound in a bath but doesn’t say when you can 🫣 sometimes a shower just doesn’t cut it for ā€œme timeā€ šŸ˜…
Also how are people keep it dry, I have a slight overhang so looking for the best way to keep the scar dry without rubbing it with a towel like I want too!

MIL’s

Is it just me or do most MIL’s constantly criticise the way you parent as a mum. She has never really seen my husband do much other than hold baby or change the occasional nappy, and that apparently makes him the best dad in the world! Meanwhile I do everything as the mum and she has never said anything like that to me. Not even the slightest compliment, and I know that I’m trying my best but how do I not let this get to me. My husband doesn’t even offer to take the baby for a while whilst I rest or take a shower, I have to ask!! It might be the postpartum hormones taking over but I just want to be able make it clear to her that I take care of the baby 95% of the time.

3 month old bedtime?

What time are you putting your 3 month olds to bed at night? Mine I do 9pm but I’m worried that this is too late?

Partner not okay with breastfeeding

We started out with a combo of breast feeding and bottle feeding (formula and expressed milk) but I found breast feeding is just easier, quicker, less dishes.

Baby girl is coming up on 8weeks old and my partner is very uncomfortable with me breastfeeding with anyone around. I do my best to be discreet and respectful of his feelings but babies run on baby time. He won’t let me feed our baby if we are in public, I have to go to the car. If his family is over to see the baby I have to leave the conversation and go to another room while they continue to visit.

Has anyone else’s partner been uncomfortable? How did you navigate the conversation of ā€œI’m going to feed our baby- idc if it makes you uncomfortableā€ without a huge fight?

Thanks in advance for any thought or advice!
