Having first doubts about unmedicated birth

I'm 38 weeks pregnant and woke up 2 days ago with bad muscular pain in my upper back. The past 2 nights have been agony, having terribly broken sleep, paracetamol barely touching the pain, and not being able to get comfortable at all.. I've booked a massage today, but it's made me think how am I going to be able to handle labour pain if I can't handle some muscle pain??
Please can people share some of their own experiences to support, or at least get me to think more realistically about pain relief if it's unlikely I'll be able to do it unmedicated..

Literally waiting for my baby now. The way I am trying to approach it is labour isn't painful for the whole thing, its in waves and it has a purpose and a very definite end with a baby at the end.
I've had horrendous rib pain for about 4 months that has suddenly disappeared because she has dropped. Being in pain constantly when you're told to rest and recharge is awful.
....and ultimately if it gets too much, you have options. There are no medals.

I didn’t think I could handle an unmedicated birth until I ended up doing it 😂! I’ve had both types of births.
With my first, I had an epidural and it was a really lovely experience. I just didn’t love the catheter or not being able to walk properly afterwards.
With my second, I planned the same, but my waters broke and I ended up labouring in a side room for 5 hours with just paracetamol and my husband’s support. It was a bank holiday, they were understaffed and there was a medical emergency in delivery. When I finally got to delivery, I begged for the epidural but it was too late , baby was born 20 minutes later
I honestly felt on top of the world afterwards and so proud of myself. I felt like a warrior!
So go in with an open mind. You might surprise yourself, or you might decide you want pain relief. Neither is a failure. ❤️

I had an epidural with my first and an unmedicated home birth with my second. I didn’t believe I could do it until I literally had her in my arms. My epidural was badly placed with my first so I had all the pain on one side and was paralysed on the other side which limited movement.
I found both births really painful, and my first took days of labour with hardly and sleep, I don’t regret getting the epidural but knowing that even pain medication and an epidural can’t guarantee you a pain free experience so just be open to change your mind :)
Un the end, I didn’t even use the tens machine I rented and my birth comb arrived in the post two days after she was born 😅

1st Miscarriage 😭

Just found out my 11 week old baby stopped growing at 8 weeks 😭 and a heartbeat which can be detected at 6 weeks was absent. 💔

We have a beautiful healthy 20 month old baby girl whom we are beyond grateful for but we were sooo excited to finally continue to grow our family 😭

Anyone still working at 35 weeks?

I am currently at 35+5 weeks. I have this week and next week left to work but honestly don’t know if I can last ! Finding it so much harder this time having a small child to care for at home as well. We don’t really have anyone who can care for my son either as it used to be my mum but she now has a terminal diagnosis to deal with and understandably isn’t her usual self… Tbh I had stopped trying when found this out so was a bit of surprise and not ideal… hubby is currently working 6/7 nights to save as well so he just as exhausted as I am… but god I just want a full day in bed so bad! 😭😂…
Is anyone else struggling?

Current birth rate is 1.39 children per woman. How many children do you have/plan on having?

I believe this is the lowest birth rate in 50 years.

Are you able to have the amount of children you’d like? If not, what is limiting you? Money? Housing? Location? Family support? Job? Partner? Living crisis? Other?

I am about to have baby number two and have always wanted 3/4 children. I don’t think 4 will be financially possible with the current costs of moving and living. Not to mention that maternity pay is shocking.

Question

Hi moms I’m about 5 weeks pregnant and I went to the hospital recently. They were able to see my baby’s heartbeat, but it was 77 bpm. They basically told me that the heartbeat is low for this stage and that it could possibly be a sign of a miscarriage. They told me to come back for another ultrasound to check again.

I’m honestly really worried and scared. Has anyone else been around 5 weeks and had a heartbeat around 77 bpm? What was your baby’s heartbeat at 5 weeks, and did everything turn out okay? Is 77 normal for this early? I’d really appreciate hearing your experiences.
