Trans-persons

As a Christian, disagreeing with the trans lifestyle due to religious beliefs, should I use their preferred pronouns? I don't want to push them away and obviously the most important part is they don't know Jesus. He said "come as you are". But I don't want to affirm the life style either. I'm conflicted. My sibling is dating a trans person and I'm just lost on what to do and don't know where else to ask.

basic human decency and respect should trump any religious beliefs. doesn’t the bible say ‘love thy neighbour’

I would just refer to them as their name tbh. I wouldn't want to come into agreement with something that isn't true but pray about it and see how the Lord leads you to deal with the situation. We need to have grace for others without shying away from the truth. The Lord is all about salvation but that comes with repentance. If we are doing things from a place of love and not the way the world defines it but how God defines it then we shouldn't be in error and it will cover a multitude of sins. Ask the Holy Spirit to give you the right words and utterance 🙏🏾❤️

Just to be respectful, use their pronouns. Even if you don’t agree.

It’s like if someone kept calling you by another name, or called you something that you don’t want to be called.

Like you said you dont want to push them away. Like you said Jesus said come as you are.

John 13:34 “a new command I give you: love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another”

There are many readings in the bible that would not apply to our world today. Things that discuss reprimanding women for things that would not be allowed in today’s society, for example.

“ I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet.” — 1 Timothy 2:12

Whether you interpret this verse to be solely regarding the church or to be applied to wider society is open to interpretation, as is most of the bible. As humans we need to evolve with our society and not abide by ancient laws that fit an ancient society.

Being a decent human being today is to support people as they are and I recommend you do the same. You will not burn in hell for respecting someone’s pronouns.

When given the option to be a dick or not- don’t be a dick. Being kind costs nothing and kind of is the whole point of being Christian.

You shouldn’t judge someone because their life looks different from yours. That is between them and God. If the church truly says, “Come as you are,” then people should be welcomed and treated with love and respect as they are not only when they fit someone else’s beliefs. If a person uses she/her pronouns, what is so difficult about respecting that? Using someone’s pronouns doesn’t take away from your faith; it shows them the kindness and dignity that Christians are supposed to give everyone.

A bit shocking to see the un-biblical advice on a Christian page but not surprising given this is an open platform...

Romans 12:2 NKJV
[2] And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Allow God to lead you rather than seeking advice on here because HIS truth and love will mean you can stick to your convictions whilst being gracious toward others
