Collecting colostrum

I’m 37 weeks and have been advised by the midwife to collect colostrum if I can - I’m only managing to collect a few droplets if that, is there anything I can do to help produce more?

Also can I express at night leave in the fridge then express throughout the next day (not going over 24 hours) then freeze safely?

Thanks in advance!

Warm shower with a good massage beforehand helps the most, also make sure you’re keeping hydrated during the day

Please be warned it can bring on contractions as well if you are over stimulating the breast she should have told u that… dont worry too much I got told this as well but it took two days for anything to come out after my son was born …x

Very common to only get a couple of drops on the first day. Keep going and you're likely to get more xx

With my first I was only collecting a few droplets initially, but as the days progressed it did increase. As other have mentioned be mindful of overstimulating. I remember I would do it once per day in the evening after my shower when I was relaxed and I would do it for a few mins on each side. I think you may be able to do it more than once per day but fortunately I was collecting plenty to fill between 1-2 syringes a day, so was collecting plenty xx
