So my 2 year old has been messing with the buttons on the washing machine all morning and cancelling cycles or pausing them. I had enough and shouted and blocked the washing machine with my legs but he kept trying to get past and press the buttons. I got so fed up of his defiance I slapped his hand away and shut him out of the kitchen. He cried so much. I feel awful....i dont know what else I could have done...i need to get washing done on rare dry days in the UK!

All you can do is apologise and move on. Just start modelling that behaviour even if he’s too young to understand. Also, my washing machine has a way to lock the buttons once it’s on, have you checked if yours can do that? Why do they love washing machines so much 😅

Is he doing it because he likes the buttons / sounds / it’s interesting ?? Maybe you could get him a little washing machine or give him an old remote without the batteries to try deflect or let him press the buttons once the washing is finished or before it’s been put on to get it out his system and try explain why we don’t touch it and that it can be dangerous unless you say so ?
Im a private nanny & was a nursey practitioner & now soon to be mum so I understand it’s really hard and you can get wound up /overwhelmed / annoyed especially by this but your doing the best you can and that’s all that matters !! You got this
Shes been like this the whole time

Mamas with HG, does Gardening help you with it? I’m not against doing it while pregg but I was avoiding it but now I’m at a loss. I’m genuinely about to try ANYTHING. Nothing helps and I have a whole toddler ☠️

My son is teething really bad right now, both sets of canines (top and bottom). We have been redirecting him to chews but sometimes he gets overstimulated and bites. I’ve been so sick and exhausted lately and today he tried to bite me so I pushed him away slightly and gave him a tap on the back to get his attention that was a little harder than I intended it to be. He burst into tears and just stared at me so heartbroken. I think it scared him.
Later at bath time, he’s all cuddly, wants to splash and play like always. Wanted to be rocked and held to sleep. He is the sweetest little boy and I was so overcome with guilt I burst into tears. It took forever for me to calm down even though my husband was reassuring me that everything was okay.
I feel like such an asshole. I grew up in a very abusive household and I always promised myself I would never lose my temper with my son. I hate that my mind keeps trying to rationalize it with “I’ve been so tired and so sick”, and at the same time trying to make it into a bigger deal than it is. Having postpartum anxiety makes this so much worse and I just keep ruminating on it.

Does anyone else’s toddler go to nursery? I’m starting mine in 2 weeks not for any reason in particular I just think it would be good for him while I’m at work for 2 days to instead of being with my mom for those 2 days being out and in an environment where they are doing more. However, it’s giving me such anxiety I’m crying already. Is he still too young or is this a good age? I know people having LO’s younger than mine that go I’m not silly but I’m starting to just feel guilty for sending him.
