Nursery

How long did it take to settle your child into nursery? My boy turned 2 end of June and started nursery last Wednesday. He was very tearful the first day but played a little bit, day 2 was the same day 3 he came in with no tears. Monday-Wednesday he was absolutely fine went off on his own. Today was the first day they got me to leave the room and wait in the staff room. I was in there for about 15 minutes until they came and got me to say he was really upset. When I went inside he was screaming so they said I could take him home. Did they do this with your children as I kind of thought but its just teaching him if he screams he will go home sorta thing. Hopefully he gets a bit used to it

I do find this approach interesting and I’ve heard a few people say their nurseries have done it too. Mine started 2/3 weeks ago, goes twice a week. We had one hour settling in session with me there, another one hour session when we left him, then straight into the full nursery days on his own. Which sounds brutal to me but he’s getting there. It is taking time to settle but they never ring me to ask for me to pick him up. I do agree with what you’re saying re if he screams you get him. Could you suggest leaving him for an hour and you’ll pick him up after? And do that for a bit and see how he gets on?

Took my little boy a few months but he was only going on a Wednesday morning so probably not often enough to settle quickly. He was very bad at being left and that’s probably putting it politely 😳 I was called back a couple of times to collect him as they just couldn’t settle him then from then on we worked together to get him settled there. I stayed with him for a few sessions then we’d do where I left for only 10 mins and came back and stayed for a little bit with him then took him home then just built on that 10 minutes and we eventually got there. It was really hard going and lots of tears from him and me but he got there eventually and he absolutely loves it now! He’s really thrived since being there too, he’s a very sensitive soul and had rarely left me at all so it was just all about building that bond with his teachers and knowing that he was safe and that I came back.

I NEED HELP

Mamas with HG, does Gardening help you with it? I’m not against doing it while pregg but I was avoiding it but now I’m at a loss. I’m genuinely about to try ANYTHING. Nothing helps and I have a whole toddler ☠️

Mom guilt hitting hard tonight

My son is teething really bad right now, both sets of canines (top and bottom). We have been redirecting him to chews but sometimes he gets overstimulated and bites. I’ve been so sick and exhausted lately and today he tried to bite me so I pushed him away slightly and gave him a tap on the back to get his attention that was a little harder than I intended it to be. He burst into tears and just stared at me so heartbroken. I think it scared him.

Later at bath time, he’s all cuddly, wants to splash and play like always. Wanted to be rocked and held to sleep. He is the sweetest little boy and I was so overcome with guilt I burst into tears. It took forever for me to calm down even though my husband was reassuring me that everything was okay.

I feel like such an asshole. I grew up in a very abusive household and I always promised myself I would never lose my temper with my son. I hate that my mind keeps trying to rationalize it with “I’ve been so tired and so sick”, and at the same time trying to make it into a bigger deal than it is. Having postpartum anxiety makes this so much worse and I just keep ruminating on it.

Nursery 14 months

Does anyone else’s toddler go to nursery? I’m starting mine in 2 weeks not for any reason in particular I just think it would be good for him while I’m at work for 2 days to instead of being with my mom for those 2 days being out and in an environment where they are doing more. However, it’s giving me such anxiety I’m crying already. Is he still too young or is this a good age? I know people having LO’s younger than mine that go I’m not silly but I’m starting to just feel guilty for sending him.

Feel so guilty. How to deal with defiance?

So my 2 year old has been messing with the buttons on the washing machine all morning and cancelling cycles or pausing them. I had enough and shouted and blocked the washing machine with my legs but he kept trying to get past and press the buttons. I got so fed up of his defiance I slapped his hand away and shut him out of the kitchen. He cried so much. I feel awful....i dont know what else I could have done...i need to get washing done on rare dry days in the UK!
