HG - 7 weeks and nothing is working

I could’ve written this myself in 2024!
Severe HG, diagnosed at 7 weeks and hospitalised until 19 weeks. Considered termination, suicide and just wanted to choke on my own vomit in my sleep so I didn’t have to live through another day. I see you and I hear you!
I got Xonvea at 19 weeks , it changed my life.
I was still poorly up until a few hours after birth but I could function.

My HG baby is 16 months now and currently pregnant with my second - no HG in sight so far this time around. Idk if that’s due to proactive measures (supplements before pregnancy and anti sickness meds put in place the first time I got nauseous).

Hi! I was also in the same situation from week 5in 2022. I would also recommend to push your OBGyn to get a referral to GI to look for underlying conditions that could be making your HG worse. I did have gallstones that only a year and a half after pregnancy were looked at despite having back pain attacks several times a month during a year and coming back to the doctor because of it. And 4 years later after insisting on coming back because i still had persistent digestive issues (ever since my HG pregnancy), they finally sent me to GI and gave positive for SIBO (symptoms I carried from 4 years ago when I got sick during pregnancy).
Guess what, all my male friends that ever had digestive issues got one appointment to the doctor and straight sent to the GI and treated for whatever they had. Some had SIBO too that was quickly diagnosed and treated. All women I know however have been ignored for years despite recurrent visits for the same problems! Please, insist on getting a referral.

I had HG, I found out at 3 weeks pregnant, lost my job at 6 weeks and was bed bound from 6 until induction at 38+4!
It’s hard, and it’s lonely, but you are so much stronger than you think.
It has made me not want a second, I’ve been doing some research please if you can afford it get a referral for a OB in Sydney (she specialises in HG pregnancies) Dr Sandra Lowe.
A new study has come out in the US that the use of Metformin is helping some women with symptoms. This is obviously patient dependent but it’s worth a chat to the dr about.
