WWYD?

Heya!
So I was at the park after school with my small children .. there was another mom I know there and we were chatting . She said to me “ I actually don’t know what to do right now , she’s not with me “
She was referring to the only other child ( besides mine and hers) at the park . She said she is usually at the park with her older brother but not today . She asked her when her mom is coming and she said “ I don’t know she said she would be a while “
This girl is 7 years old , left at the playground alone for an hour and a half
Her mom came and just pulled up on the road approximately 150 ft away and just honked for her to come ..
1. What would you do as the parent she confided in ( parent didn’t even know the child until today )
2. What would you do as me the bystander
3. Would you do this to your child ?

Mind blown .

Maybe I’m wrong .

Fill me in .

There’s so much context missing from this. The time of day. The location of the park, how the child felt etc. in many places around the world, including in many provinces it’s still very very normal for a child around 7 years old to be at the park by themselves.

I would allow my child to play at the park by herself at age 7 depending on which park and the child’s level of maturity and understanding of safety measures.

So simply all that I would do is keep an eye ( which I do with parents present anyways ) and perhaps ask the child if they need anything.

We preach that it takes a village but sometimes that village is children playing on their own with the neighborhood keeping a close eye.

You also have a pic of an under 3 year old hanging off a bookshelf full of stuff , clearly not mounted properly with those wires at the back sooo .. ya not too sure your point is valid, but thanks anyways . Good to hear how moms think

Bad Habit

Moms!!! How did yall prevent yalls kids from putting their hands in their mouth? My 5 month old son has a bad habit of shoving his hands down his throat every chance he gets and he’s getting sick off of it. We’ve tried gloves but he puts those in his mouth too

When did your child start feeding themselves?

Hi! I've never posted here... I hope this is how it goes 🤣 I have 9 month old twin boys who love to eat. They eat table food, but have NO INTEREST in feeding themselves, unless it's like a big wafer. SOMETIMES they'll manage a few puffs. Otherwise they want to be spoon fed and/or pull my hand to their face with finger foods. When did your little one want to bring food to their mouth?

Advice

I went to mess about on my partners phone on his ChatGPT and I seen two saved chats, one was him saying “I’m starting to hate coming home”, “a reason why I’m working so much is so I don’t have to go home”, it’s really hurt me that he feels he can’t come to me and share how he feels instead he has to tell an ai ‘yes man’ robot,
We have a 4 month old baby, I’ve basically been a single parent despite still being in a relationship, he says he has to pick up this much overtime to pay the bills but he works every single day, starts at 4am, some days he starts work at 4am and finishes around 8-9pm,
He also said that the dog at his parents house was going to be left alone overnight whilst his dad worked so he had to go stay there to watch the dog, I seen a message of his from his dad saying he wasn’t working so now im just starting to think he made it up as an excuse not to stay with us in the house.

I don’t know how to word this conversation with him, or if I should even bother attempt to have the conversation with him

Was your kindergartner this ready??

Could your child do half this list? Or the entire list or very few?

Im not crazy right..

Its not normal for your husband to only work, golf, play videogames, and or sleep? He literally only does that and rarely does anything with us (me and our daughter). Like today, he worked, actually gets off work early, but immediately gets a call and goes golfing, I say yes to all these things when he asks bc I want him to have hobbies or otherwise he'll mope. I hate he feels the need to ask but if he would actually be an adult and prioritize his family first, he'd literally never have to *ask* but just SAY hes going and I wouldnt give a fk. But when it comes down to it, I'll express how I feel and he says hes trying and hes sad all the time bc he misses so much time with her but when he has time hes doing only those things. Never asks me if I need time for myself or if we want to go do something. BUT. on the rare occasion he does ask, I HAVE to go with or he wont do it. So please name things ur partners to to be active because I'm at a loss.

First foods

My baby is now 6 months and I know I need to start giving him solids but I’m not sure what the first food should be. I’m a bit scared of getting it wrong.
